Rosa Parks, born on the 4th of February in 1913, was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. U.S. Congress has called her "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".

Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation in Montgomery, but the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) believed that she was the best candidate for seeing through a court challenge after her 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her bus seat for a white person.

According to historian Dr. Casey Nichols, following this arrest, Parks immediately contacted local NAACP president E.D. Nixon and informed him of her arrest. Within hours, the Women’s Political Council (WPC), formed in 1946 to address the grievances of black bus patrons in Montgomery, sprang into action, printing flyers, phoning potential supporters, and organizing carpools.

The boycott succeeded in 1957 after the Supreme Court declared bus segregation unconstitutional. Parks' act of defiance and the Montgomery bus boycott became important symbols of the movement, and she became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.

After the boycott's conclusion, Parks moved to Detroit, Michigan and began working as an assistant to Detroit Congressman John Conyers. She has received numerous honors, including over 40 honorary degrees, the Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, and two NAACP image awards. In 2002, Parks produced a biographical film titled “The Rosa Parks Story.”

"The only tired I was was tired of giving in."

New draft, need feedback bc I want to send it to them soon:

Are you OK? It sounds like you’re having a shitty go of things (I type in your username on Reddit sometimes, I don’t “stalk” you, but if it really makes you that uncomfortable you can block me; I’m /u/allthetimesivedied2) and I’m worried about you.

I’m sad that I’ll never know you the way **** knew you; I’m sad that we’ll never be friends like you were with **** before she twacked out on you. I try to tell myself that I’m happy I just got to meet you, and sit in your car with you, and go to Fred Meyer’s, and annoy you with wheel well jokes, and go to Vancouver with you to pick up insulation.

I hope I’ll see you again some day, or at least that I’ll hear your name spoken in the present tense.

I'd probably take a moment to think about how they're feeling a bit more. You ask "are you okay" and the only other mention of their emotions are (block me if you're uncomfortable). I wouldn't even mention stalking if it's not what you're doing. "I saw your reddit posts and I'm worried about you." Let them tell you they don't like it and offer up the solution of blocking you at that point.

You might be well served with some relanguaging like "I imagine you're upset that **** thwacked out on you. It never feels good to lose a friend." "I hope you can take pleasure in the small things like just sitting in the car [...] like I do"

If you're feeling bold, "would you be opposed to meeting up again soon? That way I can hear your name spoken in the present tense and maybe I can cheer you up."

So I sent it before I saw any of this feedback.

I’m…all over the place. Once again I think my only shot is if I go to treatment.

I'd rewrite the one part as "but if it makes you feel uncomfortable you can block me" because the tone is a bit much with "that uncomfortable"

Edit: I also think it flowed better when "I miss you. I hope I’ll see you again someday, or at least, that I might hear your name spoken in the present tense." was at the beginning of the second paragraph. It's a poignant ending for sure, but I like it better as a transition to you talking about how you feel.

The rest seems good to me. But have you ever explained yourself regarding the incident where you parted ways? I feel like saying "I only said those things to X because they provoked me [and I didn't mean it] or [and I'm sorry]" could go a long way if you haven't said it before. Of course, only say that if you want to.
