I swear this is the first riff every new guitar player learns (I learned it and I had never even heard the song until that moment)
Not every. My first riff was "Them Bones", Alice in Chains.
I think mine was "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Might have been "Paranoid."
fuck you i hate that i could hear this riff just from the tab fuck you fuck you fuck you 😂
Guitarists: THAT'S NOT EVEN HOW YOU PLAY THE SONG! IT'S PERFECT 4TH DYADS WITH AN IMPLIED E-G-A ROOT, SO IT'S 2-5-7 BARRED ACROSS THE 4TH AND 5TH STRINGS! 0-3-5 IS A LIIIIIIIIIIIE!
"Well, ackchyually if you watch how Ritchie Blackmore explains how to play it..."
Tony Iommi does it better anyway

When I played bass that actually wasn't my first song to learn. It was My Name Is Mud by Primus. But that was probably because I fucking love slapbass.
My friend started fucking around on a bass guitar, and the first thing he learned was the Seinfeld riff.
That's sort of how it happened for me. I had an idea of how to do the My Name Is Mud riff but it was at downtime during a jam session for the band I was playing guitar in and I was like hey lemme see if I can do slapbass.
The first bassline I learned was a Weezer song...
I think my first full song was probably Big Truck by Coal Chamber or something.

Deep Purple has some actually good songs too. It makes that song's popularity and the others' obscurity even more annoying.
Child in time is good
It's not even their riff. It's from a jazz song by a band that John Lord briefly toured with before joining Deep Purple.
The lyrics were also written in about 10 minutes because they needed one last filler track for the Machine Head album.
I bet this guy doesn't even 035
