DOGE is pushing the limits of its power, which exist as long as they are allowed to have that power.

This is a slow motion coup.

Uhhh, the bad guys won. They're already in office. Our job is now to limit the damage as much as possible, and resist at every turn that we can. Make their life difficult.

Or, and hear me out, we outright remove them from power

Go for it, they have all branches of government right now. So unless you have another plan, not much you can do. And if you're serious about doing something else, you don't put it on the internet. So I'm left to assume you aren't very serious.

That's not what you do when the bad guys win. You don't make their life difficult. You do something else with that life

It is something that has been motion for decades since the Republicans started their misinformation campaign and is wrapping up in weeks instead of a single day violent overthrow.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 6 points 1 month ago

Well, that's true.

Slow motion? It's been a week.

I'm glad they stood up for their employees.

They could just go back into work right? The DOGE SS are to busy finding people to try to manipulate to fire to actually show up and have them removed right?

I seriously doubt that their payroll/benefits would continue even if they kept working.

I'm glad they're refusing. More people in government need to do so.

Settlements are going to be insane off all this shit...

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Cost of doing business. Those bribes have to pay for something.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 7 points 1 month ago

Yeah, they're not spending their money. This is coming from tax payers years down the line, provided the judiciary actually comes through for these people.

There will be no settlements. Trump owns the supreme court, and will give pardons to those doing what he says.

I always wondered how Venezuela could let its oil-production capacity get so bad, but now I see how. It's short-term thinking and breaking things to reward loyalists.

Thay may actually want to bleed the agencies since those funds are dictated by congress tgey can't go elsewhere.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I don't think you understand what a settlement is in the context of government employment...
