Yes, myself. That's it though

Really, this amounts to a question of who has recommended lemmy to others. Which is an interesting question.

[–] QualifiedKitten@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I've recommended it to others, but none are interested, which is extra surprising considering how many of them work in tech or tech adjacent.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 7 points 23 hours ago

Lemmy is more its memes than its technocommunist roots. It’s not a very sticky experience if you don’t like the memes. (I like the memes)

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

I mentioned it, but didn’t try to recommend it to my forty something sisters who mostly use Facebook, because I figured it was a lost cause (and we’re small enough that I’d be very identifiable from my comments), but try were both very interested in it. Unfortunately, I lost them trying to explain it.

I don't even know anyone who uses BlueSky and that's considerably more trendy lately. Granted, most of my contacts are 20 something college girls so it's pretty much TikTok as far as the eye can see.

My own spouse, but...as the statisticians would say, that is not really two independent samples.

[–] Maiq@lemy.lol 17 points 1 day ago

Well of course I know him. He's me.

[–] ohellidk@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If they do they probably don't talk about it, tbh.

I met up with some guys (and gals) from !ich_iel@feddit.org at the Chaos Communication Congress in December. They also took a group photo together that I unfortunately missed.

Some people in my local Hackerspace also use Lemmy. One of them was Admin on feddit.de before it shut down.

If you have a Hackerspace where you live, there is a good chance that some people there use Lemmy too.

edit: Hacker as in Hacker Culture or in the sense of the German Wikipedia Entry for Hacker and not in the sense of the Security Hacker

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Wait, someone knew the admin the whole time? I thought they went missing, but I also didn’t pay super close attention. I hope all is well with them.

[–] Theatomictruth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 22 hours ago

No. I happened across somebody on Lemmy from the same sub 100k city as me though.

I haven’t talked about it with my social circles but I would be surprised if nobody I know is on here.

[–] sumguyonline@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Why yes I do know him, he's me.

[–] harsh3466@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Isn't this all a simulation anyway???

Seriously though, I do know several people IRL that are Lemmy users.

I actually know one person IRL that uses Lemmy. We both found it independently of one another.

[–] Winterfrost@lemm.ee 5 points 1 day ago

What is real?

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 3 points 22 hours ago

I know for certain I am the only Lemmy user within a 300km radius
