It seems like all the hype (for lack of a much better term) has died down about Ukraine, especially after the new Israeli-Palestinian escalation. The Ukraine conflict seems rather boring now. Has anything major happened in regards to Ukraine recently?

Here are some headlines which I've just made up right now:

Russian tanks are exploding because they are inferior ๐Ÿ˜ต

Putin is embarrassed by chad Ukraine moment ๐Ÿ˜‚

Nazi's are bad but Russian propaganda? Worse.

Russia bad. Something something China

Ukrainian offensive is effectively over now. The end result after four months is that Russia ended up gaining more territory than Ukraine. Western weapons have been largely depleted, and Ukraine suffered significant casualties in the process.

Meanwhile, it looks like Russia has started probing all across the front to see where the weak spots are. They've had success around Avdeevka in particular. It looks like there's a cauldron shaping that could result in Avdeevka getting cut off from resupplies.

I expect that these are shaping operations that are going to be a prelude to a bigger offensive once the ground hardens in a couple of months. We probably won't see anything dramatic until then.

I'm sure it's not boring for the people involved; the Ukrainian coup government continues to conscript civilians with no prior training, and the Nazis are presumably still shelling the Donbas

Boring not in that its not interesting like a tv or movie, but banal in its presentation in that for those that aren't immediately under threat, the situation seems repetitive and uninteresting. Despite that being exactly what war is. Another striking of the banality of evil.

War is boring. There must either be something extremely important happening, or it must be continuously hyped up to be interesting.

As has been famously said; "All quiet on the western front".
