From what I gather, the first goths came out of the punk scene, and the corset goths evolved shortly later, and the outfits were entirely DIY/thrifted for both. But it is on brand for younger punks to be hypersectarian yet horny
It’s still hard for me to wrap my head around goth sub-factions. I still think of 90s goth by default. Knows every line in The Crow, every Marilyn Manson song, smokes cloves, and hangs out at the mall. They were also some of the funniest people to have a smoke with.
