Hello there. Somehow, Star Wars memes have returned. It's not a trap, this is where the fun begins.

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

So, little sidenote, but this is my 400th post since joining on August 16th.

I may have a problem.

I’m not a fan of either

You could say I’m sp-ace

(let’s ignore the existence of lower deck and strange new world for this joke)

Feels like sacrilege but i'll let it slide this once <3

Why not Bi-Fi? There is even merch for that already

And a meatstick to boot? Perfect

I haven't watched much Trek but I thought I'd check out Strange New Worlds (I was Sci-Bi-Curious).

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 6 points 1 year ago

Welcome to the club my friend,

Live long and watch Trek 🖖

[–] MissJinx@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I was never a fan of the original but after watching the movies and Star trek: discovery I'm into rewatching the original

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 4 points 1 year ago

It definitely adds a new level of appreciation to TOS when you have Enterprise, Strange New Worlds, and some great TOS movies that help flesh it out.

You'll only have a problem, if you're running out of memes!

Godspeed my friend

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 7 points 1 year ago

Well so far so good! Got another 1k or so in the bank and I mean that for every community. I... I have a lot of shit saved.

Sci-Bi

The proper technical term is "bitrektual", as established by renowned scholar Aurelio Voltaire.

[–] Aganim@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Avid tritrektual here in that case, I also enjoy Stargate. 😁

I'm panscitual. Barely a sci-fi show I haven't liked. I even found some jank ass fan made continuations of Babylon 5 once. They were amazing.

Bro my bones feel it already.

[–] kogs@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

It hurts, but you've got my upvote.

Gate fans: Am I a joke to you?

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Be careful, there's both a Gate and a Stargate. One involves a modern military going through a portal and using weapons to flex on idiots, the other has Teal'c.

[–] NickKnight@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

The anime out of context podcast on the former fits your description perfectly. The latter is too awesome for words.

[–] topinambour_rex@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You mean sci-bi like those truckers speaking to each others through radio ?

[–] wahming@monyet.cc 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The first step in solving a problem, is admitting you have a problem

The second step is making a meme about it

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 2 points 1 year ago

No problems here, my friend. Enjoying both and happily so.

[–] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I've always been into starwars and Gundam

[–] CheeryLBottom@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Go Stametz!

[–] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

A part of me wants to see star Trek but with the star wars cast

[–] stoicmaverick@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You wipe that face off of Counselor Troy this instant young man!
