One mistake Temu is making is showing it as "Import fees". That's correct of course, but they should label it specifically as "Import tariffs" or "Tariffs", so that it's clear what this is. From the comments in the linked reddit threads, a lot of people just think they're extra fees Temu is voluntarily putting on as retaliation, their brains still aren't making the link between "import fees" and "trump's tariffs on China".
There are some brave businesses around here that have started posting signs.

Definitely needs to be "Trump's tariff" to be clear.

I’m not totally convinced that a huge swath of trump voters ever heard any alternatives to the propaganda that lead them to believe tariffs=good. Like i imagine a ton of them are structurally isolated from hearing alternatives the way social media and television works

They (along with illegal renditions and other attacks on civil liberties) have been dominating the news cycles since January. I have never been one to ignore news, so even if quite busy with something in life I read headlines at the very least. It confounds me to know some folks ignore news willfully. Some even think of it like it's some twisted badge of honor.
I know head-in-sand people exist, but I am dismayed, baffled and extremely disappointed that they still behave the same when the house is burning down around them. Especially when this ignorance is obviously present in a large block of people in the US.

Others were posting about possible workarounds, including the idea that perhaps Americans could get things shipped to a third country with lower tariffs as a go-between so that the goods didn’t appear like they were actually coming from China.

Sadly and logically, this is transshipment and if done to evade taxes by obfuscating place of origin, it is illegal. From what I heard, US customs does investigate that too, so it's not just an "illegal in theory but nobody enforces it" kind of thing.
Considering all of the other agencies that have had funding and staff cut, how equipped is customs right now?
If it means collecting more taxes and finding new excuses to send minorities to the El Salvador concentration camp, it will magically find funding before next week.
