Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Be a real shame if they found it hard to get any sleep due to extremely loud music nearby all night, every night.

no bed is one thing. if there's air conditioning, might as well be the Hyatt.

“This is what happens when the president and (Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth) demand the National Guard state assets deploy immediately with no plan in place … (and) no federal funding available for food, water, fuel and lodging,”

but no food and not enough shitters is something else entirely. they are in a city so one imagines there is a source they can access with a continual supply of water. if i'm overestimating that, the show's over.

By Monday afternoon, additional National Guard troops were expected to reach Los Angeles, upping the total from around 300 late Saturday to more than 2,100.

“Currently, there is no plan for where everyone is sleeping tonight,” the source said, adding that there was an urgent need to find more portable bathrooms and dumpsters for garbage.

nobody is following orders after ~7 days without food, except the orders of God, which they are starting to pick up via mind-radio in their transcendence beyond the plane of material concerns.

i'm curious about how things go if we get more cockups that make it clearer this pile of incompetent snivelers lacks the minimum required competence to do the basic civil unrest playbook of letting the local cops run amok while steering the media narrative. like, do you give the order for your unit to smoke a bunch of people because some alcoholic pundit told you to via text? or do you wonder if maybe they won't be able to hold up their end... leaving you open to retaliation/justice in the future?

Our timeline is awful but there's no bottom in hell.

Yikes.

Apparently they’re being mobilized in a way that doesn’t give them the full benefits including no housing allowance

Trump absolutely hates paying people

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 hours ago

This whole year so far I keep thinking "surely they can't be this fucking stupid, what am I not seeing?" And then it just turns out they're stupid.

I feel like Benoit Blanc except I keep falling for it every few weeks.

Imperialist dogs, getting more literal every day

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 39 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Trump absolutely hates paying people.

However badly he treats the troops - they'll still love him. And after the GOP SCOTUS 6 fucks the constitution and he runs for a third term - the troops will vote for him. His hogs have a deep humiliation fetish. They can't get enough.

[–] regul@hexbear.net 42 points 1 day ago

Well he's giving them an opportunity to do what they've always wanted to do: wanton violence against a less-equipped informal force composed largely of brown people?

[–] UmbraVivi@hexbear.net 20 points 1 day ago

brace-watching could backfire

[–] hexthismess@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Growing up, I thought the 3rd was cool but, outdated because who's going to demand quarter in the suburbs? Now the 3rd is in the cool zone

[–] uSSRI@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

When everyone else was doing drugs and partying, the third amendment was studying the blade.

[–] UltraGreen@hexbear.net 25 points 1 day ago

Good lmao. Maybe some of them will quit the little adult boy scout group when they realize this shit sucks and no one likes them.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 17 points 23 hours ago

1 trillion dollar budget and they can't even bother to pay for hotel rooms or fly-in tents with bunks

Good sign of imperial incompetence and arrogance concerning the well-being of their enforcers, once such disregard sets in, it always gets worse

Lol, imagine feeling bad for weekend soldiers, or an american GI for that matter. (very impossible for me)

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 20 points 1 day ago

I've always found it funny when someone tells me about a 'nice veteran' they know; yeah I'm sure the people they helped invade and brutalize would've called them 'nice veterans'

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 13 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago) (1 children)

They didn't write headlines like this when the military were sleeping on the floor of the capitol building during that time they put up massive fences.

[–] i_ben_fine@midwest.social 2 points 9 hours ago

I also remember that.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 11 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Larry David-ian bit about a guy signing up to the national guard to get military benefits while having the lowest chance of being deployed overseas or actually seeing combat

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 22 hours ago

I know a guy exactly like that

[–] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago
