The support for your job's bullshit is just a job requirement

Fuck corporations

Of course the line between pretending and believing is a thin one.

This is why compartmentalization and dissociation have become skills ._.

But some friends of mine have described it as a higher stakes form of LARPing.

Who you are at work is your character. Your character can believe things that you never would.
Such as, being a half-elf dual-class ranger/sorcerer and knowing how to fight with two swords while hurling magic missiles.
Alternatively, being a "libertarian conservative" who believes guns deserve more rights than people >_<

Other friends of mine in the furry fandom frame it like their various collections of furry critters -- just another 'sona.
Not a fursona, but a WORK-SONA.

I don't walk this line. Whenever anyone mentions anything faith based I listen attentively, offer them no opinion then redirect back to the task at hand. I'm here to work, not encourage nor dissuade anyone from believing in anything.

Personally I think that if you're so weak willed to need a sky daddy to tell you what to do using riddles in a 1500 year old book, and not have the dignity nor professionalism to keep it out of the workplace then the chances you'll actually listen to me at all are slim, but you'll never hear me say that. Just do your job and I'll do mine. Simple.

Personally, I'm more interested in their time for money exchange program than my own personal dignity.

Also applies to many blue collar fields

Exactly, tradespeople have to deal with the expectations of specific persona to get along in their fields, too.

I quite my electrical apprenticeship. I didn't hate women enough. I didn't hate queer people enough. I didn't hate the younger people enough. I didn't hate myself enough. I hated authority too much. I hated social norms too much. I cared about my health too much. But worst of all... Like on the level of genocide bad... I rode a bike to work.

Yep, you understood what I meant very well.
