Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Let's hope that one day his blood pressure getd too high.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

If only he worked himself nicely up and finally got a stroke.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 27 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

And WTH is up with the Dem votes against? Are we THAT boned?

edit:

OK, I get it in context now. Every president has stuck their manhood into foreign affairs with ordinance. Obama did a lot of surgical drone strikes, I remember not liking it then either. I think this is a unnecessarily busy hornets next to be fucking with but what he's doing isn't new, and while I still don't like it, impeaching him over it won't work, we need more. He's not going to war without Congress (yet), just doing what many others before him have done.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

This is a bad take, no previous President has done something like this quite as unilaterally. Obama and past Presidents have gotten UN resolutions, congressional approval, or something more than just validation from their cabinet of yes men.

[–] RedditIsDeddit@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Honestly, compared to all the dozens of other crimes he's committed this time around, I'd give him a pass on Iran and nail him something else, he still should and could be impeached if the GOP could grow some balls.

[–] HiddenLychee@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Right? I do not fucking understand how the Garcia stuff wasn't impeachable

The dying flailings of neoliberalism, but also yes.

Like the left during the rise of the Nazis the movement is disorganized and divided, having counted on the support of the "moral" centrists who simply don't exist.

I think Taco should have his diaper changed more frequently. Diaper rash can make babies cranky.

UTIs (urinary tract infections) really fuck with people experiencing dementia. Sometimes the way a person acts under a UTI is the first sign of such cognitive decline. They’ll be fine one day, but when infection sets in it’s like they become another person.

However, that’s for people who ordinarily have self-control. For Trump, it’s anyone’s guess.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm not sure what is worse - when he goes ALL-CAPS/CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL, or when he has the Random Capitalization of words For no Apparent reason.

[–] RedditIsDeddit@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

It's called mental illness.

[–] Stabbitha@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'm a big fan of his complete inability to use scare quotes properly

I genuinely think I have a crush on her. She consistently smacks these GOP losers around and does it with a smile.

Why does the president keep bragging about his passing of dementia tests‽ How can he not understand that that is admitting to needing them?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

"I passed that STD screening with flying colors!"

I just want to hear someone from the press pool shout, "you've already said this, Donald."

The always bragging about having to go take cognitive tests is so fucking funny.

Dropping F-bombs to the press, calling AOC stupid, and Schumer a Palestinian this morning. Dude’s gonna be shitposting the whole way to The Hague. Can’t wait for the next two days of NATO summit highlights from this very stable genius.

I can't believe that at this point anyone actually believes that the Orange Jackass will ever suffer any actual punishment.

When we examine her Test Scores, we will find out that she is NOT qualified for office

I’ve got $1,000 on AOC’s test scores over trump’s; especially since he doesn’t know how to capitalize words properly and since she didn’t have a rich father that made huge donations to her college to get her in.

[–] numlok@lemmy.world 69 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This guy has been calling out everyone else's grades and test scores since at least Obama, while consistently threatening institutions with lawsuits if they release his records. Such stereotypically weak-ass bully behavior.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

From the guy that a Wharton professor said was the dumbest motherfucker he ever taught.

[–] Machinist@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I love that you somehow caught a downvote on that. It's almost a direct quote.

"Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had. " W. Kelley, Wharton Professor. Died 2011!

That's how fucking dumb he was.

How many times has he "completely lost it" recently? He's always been insane. Insanely stupid in fact. Nothing new here.

Yet, when we read the headlines, every few days or weeks, he "completely loses it".

If he were throwing grass in the air, eat dirt, or speak in tongues, maybe it would be worth the completely lost it title. Otherwise, it gets old after a few times.

[–] Absaroka@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

That really irks me is we basically have two styles of headlines right now.

The newer sites like Rawstory, Mediaite, New Republic, Daily Beast, and Meidas Touch all use this bullshit style of headline writing.

Meanwhile the traditional media sane washes the man and is equally disconnected from reality, but in the other direction.

AOC should be forced to take the Cognitive Test that I just completed at Walter Reed Medical Center, as part of my Physical,” continued the commander-in-chief. “As the Doctor in charge said, ‘President Trump ACED it,’ meaning, I got every answer right. Instead of her constant complaining, Alexandria should go back home to Queens

I miss adults running things.

Someone told him that she's also polling better than he is, lol:

Ocasio-Cortez submitted on Saturday that Trump’s decision to bomb three Iranian nuclear sites was ground for impeachment, arguing that his “disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.”
