Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, JD Vance’s kids, and Barron Trump are all children of immigrants. Hypocrisy means nothing to MAGA.

[–] notfromhere@lemmy.ml 61 points 1 day ago

I’d argue it’s one of their core beliefs. Almost a requirement to be a MAGA is to be a hypocrite.

Isn't Ted Cruz technically an immigrant?

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 11 points 1 day ago

'If they didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all.'

Dude, don't dis one of the core tenants of the modern conservative movement like that. Hipocrisy is right next to racism as an essential piece of republican dogma.

IDK, I think it's just the conservative MO.. "fuck you, I got mine"

Damn, that poor guy (the author). Can you imagine having Stephen Miller in your family?! 🤮

When will liberals learn that fascists literally don't care when you point out their hypocrisy? They revel in it

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But when they don't point it out everyone bitches and says "why won't they call them out on it!!"

[–] Eldritch@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Fascists don't care, and we all know they're hypocrites. But far too many people, who should know better, don't. So it absolutely needs to be restated constantly.

[–] Scranulum@feddit.nu 5 points 1 day ago

Yep. It's quite literally an expression of power for them. Pointing it out does nothing but feed them.

Yeah, the left wing and right wing are basically always pissed. But when you piss off the centrists and non-politicals, that's when shit starts happening. Not that they'll do anything, of course. But that support means a lot when you're talking about keeping their mouth shut at certain times, or not reporting certain things.

Did I say that at all? I made one comparison. And I am in one of those groups, so why would I compare myself to the other?

Edit: and yes, I have been pissed ever since the department of Justice let that vile piece of shit run for office while on trial for dozens of felonies. I feel I deserve to be pissed about everything right now.

The Glossers came to the U.S. just a few years before the fear and prejudice of the “America first” nativists of the day closed U.S. borders to Jewish refugees. Had Wolf-Leib waited, his family likely would have been murdered by the Nazis along with all but seven of the 2,000 Jews who remained in Antopol. I would encourage Stephen to ask himself if the chanting, torch-bearing Nazis of Charlottesville, whose support his boss seems to court so cavalierly, do not envision a similar fate for him.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

do not envision a similar fate for him.

Just like Musk, Giuliani, Herman Cain, My Pillow asshole, etc., they all thought they were special. They thought they were in the "in" crowd. It's a fragile position no matter who you are, because you're "in" only until they don't have a use for you.

Bezos, Zuck, Miller, they'll all find out eventually that they aren't special too.

[–] Tarquinn2049@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Yeah, even "powerless" narcissists need someone to feed their ego, and will eventually turn on that person and need a new one.

It's just worse when the narcissist has power.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago

Ok, this packs a punch indeed. Thank you for sharing that quote from the article.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 1 day ago

2018, and no less relevant.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

No, you see, things are totally different now vs. when Miller's ancestors emigrated here! It's as different as black and white....

I remember this article from the time…
