No clue how some of you try to track the events of major conflicts. It just all seems like a stew of piss and vomit designed to spread disease. I can hardly read the NYT, guardian, wapost, etc. at all, much less read their war coverage. War itself is bad enough but adding in the perspectives of western analysts is just masochistic. I never want to hear a liberal of any kind mention hamas ever again. Im so sick of the measured intellectuals and their gratuitous condemnations of #violence ever again.

I stopped reading bourgeois newspapers a while ago; I'm still exposed to them indirectly but at least it's accompanied by anti-imperialist analysis, slowing down the brain rot

Read non-Western sources like Al Jazeera or something then (if you want to), no need to torture yourself

Maybe read something like Al Jazeera. It won't make the situation better but at least their reporting does not have western bullshit tied to it.

Stop reading liberal-imperialist propaganda rags, i.e. the western MSM. It is well known that most of them are straight up CIA or MI6 fronts.

Once you cut out that toxic cesspool of lies from your media consumption everything becomes much clearer.

Same, I will never read works by those bourgeois deceivers ever again

Avoid consuming legacy media if you have any choice at all. You'll already be exposed to it by just existing in the world and unavoidable osmosis. It will exasperate you, it's not healthy. You'll benefit from avoiding it. I'm trying, it's not easy.

I had to cut way, way back in the past week or so on all such media consumption. Even without the infuriating and callous 'analysis' of mainstream Western commentators, the raw facts are too painful for me to be in constant contact with them and still function.

Obviously I'm still following things, and still trying to educate myself and others. But I've got to limit my exposure to content, especially to video, of constant updates of ongoing events or I'll just completely hyperfixate and shrivel up. Emotionally, it's too much.

I made the mistake of turning on the car radio yesterday and hearing the news brief. Needless to say it was not news, just some "explanation" about how bombing hospitals is okay because Hamas was inside.🤮

I just read Al Mayadeen and watch First Thought. The only MSM I listen to is whatever's posted on here and occasionally NPR. I was keeping up on Telegram, but its too much.

I only read my local city’s biggest newspaper, more than half the time I keep a pen nearby to mark up the paper criticizing the whole thing, sports and food section is still nice to read. I don’t watch major TV channels bc it’s all just the same thing, unless its domestic issues, then sometimes basix CNN and NBC is tough to avoid for ok coverage, even then it depends on the topic. I still appreciate “Democracy Now!” even tho some of it is cringe, they’ve gotten better lately

Just seems more like voyeurism than journalism to me

[–] PoY@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

yeah i can't stand it but i also can't ignore it because i feel like it's important to recognize the various tactics they're using in plain sight
