Not really the full movie. Gaijins made computer graphics and worked combat encounters. The movie itself is a partially crowd-funded project by some of our Russian dramatic drum roll fucking monarchists. They intentionally made the movie completely sterile and cut out everything soviet out of it. Other than that - a good movie, compared to all the rest of the cringe we had for years since Soviet Union fell apart.

It's a pity that Soviet films with well done film to digital transfers and English subtitles are not really something that can be found on Netflix.

The best quality I could find are just the ones that Mosfilm uploaded to their youtube channel.

Even that might be gone due to YouTube going haywire and deleting Russian channels affiliated with state departments and organisations.

Seventeen Moments of Spring. It's a Soviet multi-series movie about a Soviet secret agent working undercover as a Gestapo officer. It's a classic for a reason.

In a similar vein - Variant Omega, also about intelligence officers.

Avoid Russian movies made recently, i.e. the one about Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. It's bourgeoisie revisionism galore.

Good to know I’ll check those out!

Watch this. there should be english subs in the youtube. It's based on the Seventeen Moments of Spring but much better, and genuninly one of the best spy series ever produced.

Fun fact: it's still very popular in Poland, but the last episode is censored out of the series because it shows Americans in unfavourable light.

There also this one, worse but more based politically and more action oriented.
