Does anyone know any call recorder that works well on Android 12? I have tried several but the one that seems to work the most is Cube ACR, which because Google changed the Android policies is no longer possible to work as it used to, and in my case I can hear my own voice in calls and not the other person's, which in my use case makes it useless.

After androids latest policy change I've been unable to find a working call recorder. They all either record only yourself, or nothing at all. I spent almost 5 hours trying every recorder I could find.

Gonna have to root and run an OS that allows it if you want to use a call recorder.

Works on the default dialer on GrapheneOS. Best I can do.

If you're rooted, the BCR magisk module is an option. Working great on my Pixel.

I Have an Honor phone, european version, with android 13, and I can record calls, installing the official apk call recorder from an Honor asian version

In some regions, Android allows call recording natively. Most regions however, this is not allowed and the native call recording features are not available at all.

This does not follow which regions can legally record, just googles arbitrary layout (which from what I can find isn't actually published either, please correct me if you find a source). I'm in a region where call recording is legal, however these features are not available natively or via third party apps.

Yes, I know. I live in Spain. In Spain it is legal to record a conversation without warning, if you participate in it. Yes, you can't share it with other... but you can use it in a trial as evidence, in fact it happens every day. So I don't know why Google decides to eliminate the function of recording calls if it is legal in my country

I'm in Canada where it's even less restricted: I can record any conversation that I'm a part of, and can freely do whatever I like with that recording.

Google says no though, so no recording for me at all anymore.

TBH it's one of the reasons I may finally root my phone.

At least here in California you need both parties' consent to record the call. But even if it's impossible for a pure software app to do it, you could physically tap the headset jack if your phone has one.

While possible, that's really cumbersome and inconvenient.

I used to have android record all calls to help with my shit memory. Now I'd have to carry around a second device and make a point of setting it up everytime I receive or make a call...

The idea is to stop malicious apps from wiretapping you, I think. (Edit: fixed autocomplete error).

I tried to get this to work awhile ago, and I think the only way to do it is to load in a completely different OS like lineage or graphene. The battery for the phone I was experimenting on started inflating though, so I didn't get very far. I thought I had bookmarked the guide page for how to root, but I guess not. It involves setting your phone into developer mode, and then communicating with it with a special program via command line.

AFAIK this is the only way to get call recorders to work on Android these days.
