/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

The biomatter just gets reconstituted in the replicators. Earl Gray, anyone?

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I loved the line in Discovery when they're eating apples. "It's made out of our shit you know. Pretty good for shit."

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Another quintessential Discovery quote...

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

One of the reasons I love Discovery is that it outright addresses the things that exist in the universe that are never really brought attention to otherwise. Like Klingons having two dicks. We know that they had backup organs. The dick is a reproductive organ. I mean it makes sense that there would be a backup there too, especially given the insane hostility/violence of their species. That could be talked about by fans forever and speculated on it but it was Discovery that went "Two streams, case closed." and I fucking love them for that.

"Klingon Fisting Fiesta"? Did you mean Jadzias and Worfs honeymoon?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 10 months ago

That doesn't sound kinky enough for Jadzia.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago

Depends on how many fists are involved

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

That's what Worf does when Jadzia is away on mission.

Worf: "If you breathe a word of this to anyone, I will kill your entire extended family."

I mean it makes sense when you think about it. The federation isn’t exactly going to go around advertising that they have the best f*** simulators on their flagship. Whereas Quarks is a literal Space Casino. Just because your company doesn’t block porn, doesn’t mean you should watch it on your work laptop, at least while you’re on duty.

Lower Decks is very clear about the wide range of uses of the holodeck, and their definition of Safe for Work has certainly progressed from 21st century standards.

[–] DannyMac@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago (2 children)

If you combine the idea of the holodeck with the logic of the purge from The Purge films, you could frame the holodeck as a way for people to express their darkest desires privately. Outside the holodeck, utopia exists.

[–] LordOfTheChia@lemmy.world 24 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wonder if the holodeck can handle modded Skyrim. Imagine one of the starfleet crew walking into that madness.

Would also be hilarious if they had a Star Wars program. "BRB, gotta go to the holodeck to blow off some steam"

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That said, can we not keep doing dark and evil Star Trek, Mr. Goldsman?

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

The producers are making what they know, which is why it's bereft of hope.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 14 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Bashir being caught by Garak playing James Bond shit and acting like he was in the middle of jerking off.

[–] kameecoding@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Well given its a james bond thing its basically that. we all know what happens when the sex pun named woman shows up

[–] Transporter_Room_3@startrek.website 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I mean, since the computer isn't sentient, it's still basically masturbation.

[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Tell that to Vic.
