We’d photographed this sow a few times here at Hallo Bay. Sitting still and waiting, I’d been shooting wider, getting more of the ‘small bear, big landscape’ image that works so well, when she turned and started right at us. I wanted to shoot a little tighter and reinforce that power and shape of a grizzly bear, so zoomed in to fill the frame a bit more.

D300s, 70-200mm f2.8 lens @155mm, f10, 1/320, ISO 250
