His wealth has roughly tripled from $35.5 billion in 2015, making him one of only 14 people worth more than $100 billion by Forbes' reckoning. Excluding his fortune leaves a sizable hole in the Bloomberg index.

Their list has always not included some of the truly richest people in the world, like for example some Saudis. It's a pretty meaningless list.

Pretty sure Forbes and Bloomberg also exclude criminals who obtained their wealth illegally

Edit: looks like Saudis are excluded for similar reasons

Fun fact. Fourbe in French a means dishonest person. A liar. A hypocrite.

I always thought Forbes looked a lot like that word.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago

Hey, I said illegal not unethical or immoral. Not defending anyone who is on the list lol

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 6 points 7 months ago

Except it's plural.

[–] Glowstick@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Wow, such nonsense. ALL billionaires obtained significant portions of their wealth illegally

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 13 points 7 months ago

As I said in another comment, illegal /= unethical or immoral. Most people on the list used shady, yet legal, practices. Few probably engaged in outright illegal acts to obtain their wealth.

I wish all the billionaires would launch themselves into space to fuck off forever.

That or go on more submarine expeditions I guess.

Bloomberg pretty much singlehandedly derailed progressive challengers and propped Biden up (disclaimer: I voted Biden in the end but he wasn't even my 3rd primaries choice).

He specifically said ahead of the 2020 primaries that he'd only run to ensure neither Sanders or Warren won if they were gaining momentum.

Fuck him.

The wealthy hate actual progressives

Only to be replaced by new ones. It's a human trait that needs to be ejected from our genome

Why do they have so much, and why aren't they systematically targeted and eradicated.

[–] ccunning@lemmy.world 33 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They’ve successfully fended off a class war by stoking the flames of a culture war to keep people preoccupied…

Easy to keep the throne when the peasants are happy to continue fighting each other.

Because their patriarch owned every drop of oil in the country for a while.

I wish Bloomberg would stop spamming anti marijuana propaganda all the time on his website and passing it off as "news". Fuck that asshat. What companies does he own so I can boycott them all?

[–] Kidding_me@lemmy.world 10 points 7 months ago

He doesn't like it because he has not found a way to monopolize it

[–] Cuttlefish1111@lemmy.world 11 points 7 months ago (1 children)

How about the trillion dollar Rockefeller family

[–] CaptainSpaceman@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Rothschilds and Vanderbilts and Rockefellers, oh my!

[–] gedaliyah@lemmy.world 5 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I'd be happy to be worth a millionth of that.

Would be enough money completely change my life.

Clarification, I was referring to the trillion dollar Rockefeller family just mentioned, not the comparatively impoverished Bloomberg. Sorry for the confusion.
