For those not reading the article, it somehow gets even crazier:

The bizarre rescue effort involved a rodeo clown, who happened to be passing, local Whitney Blomquist told KOMO.

[–] girlfreddy@lemmy.ca 13 points 6 months ago

Rodeo clowns are trained to distract and somewhat manage bulls in rodeos. He was more of an expert than anyone else there.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 12 points 6 months ago

A rodeo clown is more like a bull wrangler than a circus clown, for those who don't know.

I for sure wouldn't volunteer to catch them. Zebras are notoriously mean animals.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

So are bulls though, so I guess it was good that a rodeo clown got involved.

And famously incapable of being domesticated.

I didn’t know this. Searched “zebra temperament.” Checks out. Kill lions.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Is it missing or is it on a quest to avenge Harambe?

[–] snooggums@midwest.social 9 points 6 months ago

Twist: All zebras were captured but the stripes are throwing off the counts.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

This made my day much brighter. Thank you.

Have they checked on the penguins?

[–] fixerdude2@lemmy.ca 6 points 6 months ago

Someone is playing Jumanji again.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 6 months ago

Fake news. Zebras aren't real, they're just horses painted to look that way, Big Zoo is lying to you, WAKE UP!!

[–] FirstCircle@lemmy.ml 6 points 6 months ago

I lived in North Bend for six years, and I'm not even a zebra. Nothing much ever happened there but the town, together with neighboring Snoqualmie, was used in some of the Twin Peaks filming, none of which involved zebras AFAIK. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Peaks_(fictional_town)

[–] treefrog@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago

There's a video in the article by the way everyone! No video or pictures of the clown though.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

LOL the caption of the photo called that the eastern outskirts of Seattle. You have to drive a full 45 minutes+ from Seattle to get to where this happened.

[–] GarytheSnail@programming.dev 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think it's a reasonable description to people who have only heard of Seattle.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

It reminds me of someone who told me they were from San Francisco. In fact, they were from Richmond which is only loosely part of the San Francisco Bay Area.

I'd have preferred some mention like "this occurred approximately 75 miles east of Seattle" or whatever the correct distance is.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

You'll never catch me, coppers!
