I mean, can you really blame the guy? Holding that in all year can't be good for your health.
One small island like that able to sustain two people off of fish, coconuts and seawater. He should be happy they have such a sustainable and prosperous life.
They could have gotten home from their trip and had to be at work first thing Monday morning. Instead they get plenty of vitamin D and fresh air.
You can take the psychosomatic approach and assume Bob's lifespan will be shorter due to stress and shame. Or the psychosocial approach and assume the other guy's lifespan will be shorter, because one day Bob's gonna snap and kill him.
Or the optimistic approach: they're about to be saved in the next panel.
Since its the farside its more likely the ship in that panel will misinterpret their celebration as telling them to go away and keep on sailing by.

Hello fellow Far Side fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.
The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist).
