Let me know if this gets annoying. He's probably going to live in here for the time being. Hopefully not causing too much mischief. A little is ok.

Took a second in my brain to realize that's an action figure sized Q. For that brief moment, thought your rig was like the speaker at the beginning of Back to the Future.

I thought it was just a photoshop, but something about the hand snapped my brain back to reality. That’s a hecka good quality Q! Kinda want one for myself haha

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

EXO-6 makes them and yes they're extremely high quality.

Q is like my own little house gremlin lol

[-] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

If "elf on the shelf" isn't creepy enough for ya, try Q on the loo!

[-] PaupersSerenade@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

I have space in my PC case, but it’s below my desk so it would be true banishment haha. Thanks for letting me know the manufacturer, may get myself a gremlin as well!

slowly and deliberately turning each graphical setting to maximum, computer audibly humming, loads Minesweeper, computer explodes.

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.org 27 points 2 months ago

what the hell is that Motherboard? Why are the external plugs INSIDE the case?

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Hehe the motherboard is a standard mATX "gaming" motherboard from Gigabyte. The case is theunusual thing, it's a Thermaltake Tower 300. It was fun to build in and looks great on my desk.

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.org 8 points 2 months ago

so Thermaltake really made a tower where you aren't supposed to use an IO-Panel to keep your motherboard dustfree?

But yeah, on the marketing material it does look nice.

[-] A_Very_Big_Fan@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

I thought it was a weird looking RaspberryPi before I realized the thing on the left was the GPU

[-] finestnothing@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

I gotta say, that case does look sick. It makes me want to switch to mATX

[-] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Ok honestly I like the tiny MOBO

But it feels so weird where are all the cables? Where are the 9 SSDs and lone HDD you've collected over the years?

How does an x16 pcie card fit on there?

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

microATX isn't even that tiny compared to miniITX!

  • The cables go up and out in a small bundle from the back. I'm surprised at how tidy it all is.
  • This computer is in my room at my family's house out on the island. The bulk of my storage is in my main PC at my apartment in the city; a mid tower beefy overpowered EATX big boi.
  • The Radeon is a 5700XT which is plenty big and x16. If you look near the edge of the card, the case has a removable cover which gives you another 3-4 inches of space for even longer GPUs if needed.

I heard the latest windows update helps AMD chips a bunch. So yeah you want it.

[-] cybervseas@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

It's a Ryzen 2600. I don't think it gets any benefits anymore. I'd be happy to be wrong 🥲

[-] Strykker@programming.dev 4 points 2 months ago

You probably do, it's still mostly the same architecture under the hood.

[-] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Psych! We just want to install clippy AI and train "him" by using just 65% of your processor constantly and only 45% of your total bandwidth. Don't worry, you won't notice it!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable, neither is supporting people who actively want to kill those groups. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.
