Ah. And delivered very often in the tiniest possible bottle. One drop of cola that just turns into steam on your tongue.

Where is the kilo of crushed ice and a liter of coke, huh?

I never understood why they make it black. Just let it look how it would look without all the food coloring

So you want Crystal Pepsi?

[-] frezik@midwest.social 11 points 1 week ago

It's caramel coloring, as in baked sugar. Old timey candies tended to put caramel more front and center than candies today.

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 week ago

i'm pretty sure the colour is like 75% of the reason why people consider "cola" its own thing, if you just taste it blindly then you realize that it's basically just vanilla, cinnamon, and citrus, which you'd expect to be more of a yellow-y beige and frankly probably really offputting colour.

[-] frezik@midwest.social 6 points 1 week ago

There was "Crystal Pepsi" back in the day. People hated it.

[-] variants@possumpat.io 2 points 1 week ago

I feel like black is already an off putting color for a liquid that you are going to consume haha but people got used to it so they'd probably get used to a yellowy drink. But I guess it's already terrible for you so what's another dosage of food colouring on top of it

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 week ago

well it's not really black, it's dark amber. most of the time you're going to see some light shining through the liquid, it's not like it's black paint.

Pepsi-Free was clear like 7-Up. I'd assume any cola without coloring would be clear as well.

Did you know it's actually Thums Up?

[-] sag@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

Pun intended

I've never thought to try this, granted I rarely ever drink soda.

It's interesting to see multiple folks saying that Coca-cola and Pepsi taste the same. In my part of the world, there is (or was) a noticeable difference between the 2. I could easily discern the difference between them even in a blind taste test. "Coke" is noticeably more bitter and has more complex flavor. Pepsi is sweeter with sweeter flavor tones.

[-] TheBat@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Vanilla coke >>> All other flavours

[-] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 week ago

I really felt Cherry-Coke nailed the cherry hard, better than any other cherry-flavored brands.

[-] 737@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 week ago

they taste pretty much the same, I just think Coca Cola is slightly more evil than PepsiCo. So I mostly drink Pepsi

Yum a jack & coke but with pepsi! My fav

Everyone knows that rc cola is the best one

[-] JPSound@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

This may sounds nuts but i have a simple formula I like to follow. A Coke with no ice but still cold or a Pepsi with ice. A Pepsi without ice or a coke with ice tastes different.

[-] niktemadur@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Omg, I'm dying over here...!
This is the greatest use of Soyjack I've ever seen.

If I could ever do an art gallery exhibit of memes, this one has to be on it. This ticks all the Pop Art boxes. Andy Warhol would have been deeply fascinated by the meme format.

MUH BEPIS!!!

[-] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de -2 points 1 week ago

all sodas of the same flavour are basically the same, i don't understand why people care so much about the precise brand..
and it's weird how it only seems to happen for specific flavours, you don't tend to see orange soda fans getting up in arms about not being served fanta.

[-] shani66@ani.social 1 points 1 week ago

You really don't have taste buds if you think they taste the same.

[-] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

They're not exactly the same but they are extremely similar. Which I guess makes sense since they both are a type of Cola.
