Pure walled-garden behavior (by federation/decentralization) from the Minetest devs.

How is this walled-garden behavior? There is no centralized database of Minetest accounts.

I don't think this is walled-garden behaviour. No one's stopping you from just using the same user info for every server you join, with no consequences to doing so. You don't need an email and data doesn't sync anyways, so there is no need.

But you will have to do the hassle of making another account on each server

Just like you have to make another account on each Fediverse platform because either they’re incompatible or one of them blocks the other.

The last update to this github issue was over 3 weeks ago. Also why should anyone care when they already said its technically possible but up to the servers to share their login database?
