Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

This is shaping out to be an even better administration than Trump's first year. Though some are some normie-picks, like Stefanik, Rubio, and that Waltz guy, a lot of these people are so much fun. Fox News host, gaetz, Miller is back. Just gotta bring in Bannon and Gorka. PLEASE pick Rfk for HHS. God the democrats have ruined us more than they usually do. Stupid fucks you did this i will never forgive you. You could have just given me healthcare

The Uncle Rukus guy from NC should be Department of Urban Development

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

he'll be put in charge of the library of congress somehow

[–] dragongloss@hexbear.net 37 points 1 day ago

Well this is terrifying.

[–] Hotspur@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Not that it probably matters, but is Matt gaetz even a lawyer? He does have a wild look though, so the cabinet of grotesques is filling out nicely.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dude looks like a perfect mix of Quagmire and the monster from Young Frankenstein

[–] Hotspur@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah, that’s spot on. Also he looked weird but “ok” and then he got like a facelift or something? Which… did not improve the situation.

Eli Valley is gonna have so much material.

Trump is only the accelerationist candidate if you assume that he is personally more competent than the deepstate ghouls Kamala was going to let pick her cabinet. He isn't, and by clearly being the final decision on who will run his administration, he is almost certainly going to further hurt US foreign policy goals while inspiring actual resistance to the shitty domestic policies the establishment Democrats had no interest in fighting.

Also, there's a very good chance that in 3 years time Trump's own cognitive decline will become as obvious as Biden's.

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think I’m misreading your comment because to me the two halves of it are contradictory. Handing the keys to the American empire at home and abroad to a bunch of incompetent ideologues IS an accelerant imo.

[–] cosecantphi@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I was thinking of accelerationism in the sense of a purposeful worsening of conditions to spur marginalized communities into action. Things were going to get worse under either party, but it's much worse when the western liberals are also putting their weight on the scale alongside the Democratic establishment.

Trump is going to have to fight protests and uprisings to enact his domestic agenda, but the Democrats would have enacted nearly the same set of policies while blaming it on obscure senate rules or another one of their rotating villains.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Then I guess I'm not so much for the acceleration of conditions as for the dumbification of conditions we're seeing

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

That's what I'm thinking as the silver lining too. No way he's going to be able to kick off anything major in the world and he's probably going to burn all our bridges with fascist ghoul states like Ukraine because he's a petty queen and Zelensky will say he's fat or some dumb shit.

The bad part is all us marginalized folks are in for a world of hurt when Elon and his dogecoin department defund the few remaining social services left and target trans people.

[–] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 18 points 1 day ago

Pretty much, this has been my take as well (that Trump is if anything the opposite of an accelerationist by and large, and impotent due to just how much of an Ugly American™ he is)

I think he doesn't get through the confirmation process, but not because he's a creep, instead for some asinine reason like he's not old enough

[–] bbnh69420@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago

Anyone want to put money on Trump bypassing Congress by recess?

[–] PorkrollPosadist@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I've only heard it from this NGO dork, so take it with a grain of salt, but with the Republicans controlling both houses of Congress, they might just adjourn and do recess appointments to get everybody in and hit the ground running. Would be the smart play. Otherwise all these confirmation hearings would take months. It took over a year for Trump to fill some positions in his first term.

[–] Oxen@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 day ago

I don't have anything left to throw up.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 22 points 1 day ago

I never want to see Thielcels parade around like they’re the real technocrats and we’re all just rubes.

Half glass full, the collapse might be a bit faster?
