So this bit is historically accurate? It's hard to believe nowadays that Family Guy was once clever...

I'm no historian but I'd imagine it's probably more to do with the Tudor conquest (or reconquest) of Ireland took place during the 16th century
They would have still been drunk in the 15th century.
I think while they invented it in the 14th century, they spent the 15th century perfecting it. 😅
The distillation process was still in its infancy; whisky itself was not allowed to age, and as a result tasted very raw and brutal compared to today's versions.
Oh, I'm sure. I'm also sure there were many other things going on in that century. I just like the idea that they were drunk as fuck for almost four times as long as I've been drunk.
Family Guy is frequently clever. The show can be annoying because the A and B (and occasional C) plots are usually hollow (with some notable exceptions) and serve only as connecting tissue for the cutaway gags, but the cutaway gags are often very funny.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s great for a laugh every now and then.
They invented whiskey, then invented modern chemistry to make better whiskey
Beautiful ... Irish invent whiskey and get rip roaring drunk for 300 years before they figure out what kind of social activity they can do while being drunk .... "HEY SHAMUS!!!! let's see how far you can roll that ball!!!"
"Faaaaaak Noooo"
Okay, "entrepreneurship" in the 18th is not a real invention and it didn't start with the Irish, so they clearly had another blackout period.
God invented whisky so the Irish wouldn't rule the world.
My take from this is, God fears the Irish.
