Since that's the case, the name is an obvious target for trolls, spammers, etc. That's what those accounts are/were.
It was impersonation until they were banned. Some spammers used these accounts to spam gore and stuff
Yeah, there was one particularly persistent troll in the early Lemmy times that registered that handle on every possible server to spam literal shit.
That particular user is a pro-china troll.
And also one of the creators of Lemmy.
