Hexbear Proposals chapo.chat matrix room.
This will be a place for site proposals and discussion before implementation on the site.
Every proposal will also be mirrored into a pinned post on the hexbear community.
Any other ideas for helping to integrate the two spaces are welcome to be commented here or messaged to me directly.
Within Hexbear Proposals you can see the history of all site proposals and react to them, indicating a vote for or against a proposal.
Sending messages will be restricted to verified and active hexbear accounts older than 1 month with their matrix id in their hexbear user profile.
All top level messages within the channel must be a Proposals (idea for changing the site), Feedback (regarding non-technical aspects of the site, for technical please use https://hexbear.net/c/feedback), or Appeals (regarding admin/moderator actions).
Discussion regarding these will be within nested threads under the post.
To gain matrix verification, all you need to do is navigate to my hexbear userprofile and click the send a secure private message including your hexbear username.
I am very new and very dumb. 
I will most likely not detect sarcasm and struggle without explicit instructions. 
I am on mobile currently. I'm supposed to be asleep. I am not asleep. I'm hyperfixated on new internet place.
I haven't quite figured out the UI yet but it might just not be optimized for mobile. Is there an app or should I just wait until I get back on my PC?

You can set your pronouns in top right hamburger menu - [your name] - settings, and then pronouns should be the first thing in the list. You need to scroll down a bit for the Save button.

I believe you just have to DM one of the admins. I don't know who usually handles the pronouns, but @CARCOSA@hexbear.net would most likely be able to help

If you don't mind, I've never encountered these pronouns and would want to hear your explanation for how to use them to address you!
Id also enjoy reading about the why/how for your pronouns, but I won't pry for that info. If you are the type to happily share such info, though, feel free!
Of course! If someone uses mirror pronouns, it just means they want to be referred to by whatever pronouns you use. If two people with mirror pronouns want to refer to each other, usually there are backup pronouns (my backup is they/them) to keep things from getting confusing xD
Not everyone will be comfortable using mirror pronouns because if you are dysphoric towards a particular gender, someone of the gender you're dysphoric with would refer to you with pronouns you're not comfortable with.
However, I consider myself agender, and while I don't want to be percieved as any particular gender, I also want to be friendlier with people and hope that "matching" the person I'm talking to will make developing friendships easier.
Other people may have different motivations, but that one is mine. Since I only get dysphoric when someone assumes I'm a gender they don't like (not even sure if that's dysphoria tbh) I'd rather just chameleon to whoever I'm talking to.

Welcome! Personally I use the mobile site, and there's no mobile app for Hexbear specifically. However, Hexbear is part of a network of sites called Lemmy that can optionally federate with each other and see each other's posts/comment on each other's sites. Which instances federate with each other is a whole bunch of drama, but I digress. There are some Lemmy apps that you can use to browse Hexbear, but we have some custom features like pronouns and the emoji picker that may or may not be supported.
Jerboa is by far the best mobile app. I had to set my pronouns on the mobile website, and it shows up in Jerboa after that.
I use Thunder, on which I can change my display name. Are there still some that can’t show Hexbear emojis?
You'll be able to view the emojis fine because they're just linked images. It's just that we have a lot of them, and there are features that will allow you to search for them and automatically add them into your posts/comments that don't work in (most? any?) of the mobile apps
There were some apps when Hexbear first federated that didn’t display them or displayed them poorly, messing up the formatting. I was on Memmy, but switched to Thunder because Memmy can’t handle the formatting (I just checked, it still can’t).

Is there an app
There's actually an app I use (on android) called Jerboa, and I feel like it makes the site much easier to use. The only downside is that custom emojis can't be used unless you remember the codes, but it's not the worst thing in the world and the UI is so much better. Jerboa's also developed by the same developers that work on Lemmy.
