Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Mental attack? What did your brother do?

[–] Patnou@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

He had an episode he has Severe Social Anxiety Disorder , Bi Polar Schizo and a number of other things. Apparently he locked himself in his bedroom and didn't leave for two days. Don't ask me where he used the toilet. My mom called 988 and the police for some dumbass reason thought it was a hostage situation so they kicked in the front door pushed my mom aside and kicked open his bedroom door and just dove on him and hog tied him. They initially arrested him for resisting arrest. Then they changed it he was abusive toward a family member then they said he was interfering with gov ops while in jail until they got the point he was mentally ill like my mom told them. He is currently in a state hospital for mental disorders. And kept repeating he wanted to talk to me. Long story short I love my brother he does have his problems like all of us. But even if a person from your family needed you and you were half way around the world you would come back. Currently sitting outside the door waiting to go in to the psych unit. Been here for 5 hours.

Executed a corporate supervillian and the legal system is already making up "crazy person" narrative. Smh

They do random targeting, so even if you were carrying nothing, it's still possible

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 26 points 20 hours ago

TSA will probably assume you just checked your luggage at the ticket counter. But they won't care either way.

If you don't want to attract attention, be bored.

And let all your face and body show it at all times.

Do all the typical things at the right time. Don't talk to anybody - only the needed minimum. Have neither fear nor fun.

Is it fishy to travel without luggage? I’ve done it tons of times, who knew?

[–] khannie@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago

My dad used to say that all you really need when traveling is your passport, tickets and cash and that's true enough IMO.

It's brave though. At a minimum I always take clean t-shirt, undies and socks. It has paid off more than once.

Is this domestic travel or are you going through customs?

Domestic - nope. It’s possible they can look it up - but for all they know - you just checked your bags.

International/customs - don’t say you have a large amount of money on you or any meat/fruit in your socks and you’ll probably be fine.

........well what am I supposed to do with all these foot toasted slim jims???

[–] pleasejustdie@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You joke, but Trevor Noah ate a whole bag of biltong (South African jerky) in front of customs because customs would not let him into the country with it.

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Biltong is so damn good. I would be upset I couldn't save any for later but hedonistically joyful in getting to engorge myself on biltong.

I did an air commute with, weekends at home and weekdays on-site at an apartment. I flew with my phone, headphones and wallet only as my key got hidden in my beater car-bumper. Never had a second glance at TSA.

[–] j4k3@lemmy.world 10 points 23 hours ago

Good luck. I hope your brother gets good treatment and everything works out for the better Don.

[–] H1jAcK@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

No, shouldn't really be an issue. People fly without luggage regularly, for many reasons. If they decide to flag and check you, just explain your situation

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

No. I've done many short haul flights like that without problems, including in the US. (For example Houston to Mobile, only to return the same day). Despite perpetually looking like I'm a confused foreigner (mostly because I am a confused foreigner), I've had no noteworthy issues with the TSA.

Only thing I can think of was that one time they did not understand that, yes, you can in fact have a TWIC and a C1/D visa without working for an airline. Cost me maybe 5 minutes extra.

Sometimes the duration of your stay is a short one, and your baggage (or lack thereof) will reflect that.

What's your complexion?

[–] Today@lemmy.world 3 points 23 hours ago

We rarely check bags.
