Mao Zedong was born on 26 December 1893 in a middle peasant family in Shaoshan Valley, modern day Xiangtan County of Hunan Province, under the reign of Qing Dynasty Emperor Guangxu. From the age of six, Mao worked on his father's land and at a later age served as the family account keeper, performing farm work alongside the laborers hired by his father. Mao Zedong learned from his own experiences the hardships that the Peasantry suffered, as Mao Yinchang enforced a harsh work discipline on Mao Zedong and his younger brothers, even beating them. Such a life ingrained in Mao a rebellious spirit and good work discipline.

At the age of 17, filled with the need to continue his studies outside his secluded village and hearing that Dongshan School taught modern knowledge, Mao convinced family members to persuade his father to approve of the move. Leaving the environs of Shaoshan Valley for the first time.

On the eve of the 1911 Revolution, Changsha was a hub of the Province's revolutionary activity, with even the local military forces aligning with the revolutionaries. Changsha was Mao's, then 18, first encounter with revolutionary thought, becoming a dedicated reader of the revolutionary publication Minli bao (People’s Journal).

Mao immediately joined the revolutionary army of the new government, but rather than a student detachment, he opted to join the regular army. Becoming a private in the left platoon of the First Battalion, 25th Brigade, of the Hunan New Army. It was while reading an article in the Xianghan xinwen (Xianghan News), that Mao would first encounter the term 'socialism'.

After the revolution, during the New Culture Movement the New Youth magazine would criticize the then KMT goverment for its failures in abolishing the feudal istem throuth a materialist lents, a collegue friend introduced Mao to it. Eventually its makers would found the Communist party of China in Shanghai by Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao in June 1921, And Mao was one of its early members

Following instructions from the Comintern members also joined the Kuomintang.

Mao worked as a Kuomintang political organizer in Shanghai. With the help of advisers from the Soviet Union the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party) gradually increased its power in China. Its leader, Sun Yat-sen died on 12th March 1925. When Chiang Kai-Shek emerged as the new leader of the Kuomintang after a power struggle between the right and left wing of the party, he carried out a purge (April 12 Purge) that seek to eliminate the communists from the organization and the country. The survivors of the purge managed to established diferent soviets inside the country the biggest being the Jiangxi Soviet.

The nationalists now imposed a blockade and Mao Zedong decided to evacuate the area and establish a new stronghold in the north-west of China. In October 1934 Mao, Lin Biao, Zhu De, and some 100,000 men and their dependents headed west through mountainous areas, this Began the Long March in which Mao would win the Political Power Struggle inside the CPC and become the Chairman of the CPC

The marchers covered about fifty miles a day and reached Shensi on 20th October 1935. It is estimated that only around 30,000 survived the 8,000-mile Long March.

During the Second World War Mao's well-organized guerrilla forces were well led by Zhu De and Lin Biao. As soon as the Japanese surrendered, Communist forces began a war against the Nationalists led by Chaing Kai-Shek. The communists gradually gained control of the country and on 1st October, 1949, Mao announced the establishment of People's Republic of China.

In 1958 Mao announced the Great Leap Forward, an attempt to increase agricultural and industrial production. This reform programme included the establishment of large agricultural communes containing as many as 75,000 people. The communes ran their own collective farms and factories. Each family received a share of the profits and also had a small private plot of land. However, three years of floods and bad harvests severely damaged levels of production. The scheme was also hurt by the decision of the Soviet Union to withdraw its large number of technical experts working in the country. In 1962 Mao's reform programme came to an end and the country resorted to a more traditional form of economic production.

As a result of the failure on the Great Leap Forward, Mao retired from the post of chairman of the People's Republic of China. His place as head of state was taken by Liu Shaoqi. Mao remained important in determining overall policy. In the early 1960s Mao became highly critical of the foreign policy of the Soviet Union. He was for example appalled by the way Nikita Khrushchev backed down over the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Mao became openly involved in politics in 1966 with the start of the Cultural Revolution.

During the early 1960s, Mao became concerned with the nature of post-1959 China. He saw that the old ruling elite was replaced by a new one. He was concerned that those in power were becoming estranged from the people they were to serve. In an attempt to dislodge those in power who favoured the Soviet model of communism, Mao told students and young workers as his Red Guards to fight the revisionists in the party.

Lin Biao compiled some of Mao's writings into the handbook, The Quotations of Chairman Mao, and arranged for a copy of what became known as the Little Red Book, to every Chinese citizen.

Zhou Enlai at first gave his support to the campaign but became concerned when fighting broke out between the Red Guards and their opposition. The Cultural Revolution came to an end when Liu Shaoqi resigned from all his posts on 13th October 1968. In 1969, Mao declared the Cultural Revolution to be over.

Mao gave his support to the Gang of Four: Jiang Qing (Mao's fourth wife), Wang Hongwen, Yao Wenyuan and Zhange Chungqiao.

Around the time of the death of Lin Biao in 1971, the Cultural Revolution began to lose momentum. The new commanders of the People's Liberation Army demanded that order be restored in light of the dangerous situation along the border with the Soviet Union.

Near the end of Mao's life, a power struggle occurred between the Gang of Four and the alliance of Deng Xiaoping, Zhou Enlai, and Ye Jianying.

Mao Zedong died in Beijing on 9th September, 1976.

Is the Baader Meinhoff Complex movie supposed to be left-wing? 'Cause I can't help but dislike almost everyone in it and it doesn't really talk about their politics or why at all. The lawyer guy in glasses on their side seems to be the only responsible one and they're depicted as basically punk dipshits doing acts at random. The RevLeft episode(s) I've heard on the RAF depicted them as way more disciplined and properly ideological.

There's gotta be some crazy exploit I don't know

Also ranked up to unlocking everything on my old account

The AA-12 is kinda disappointing which was a bummer, the damage falls off fast and it runs out of ammo quick

The MG36 whips ass though, really fast reload for an LMG and probably the best DPS other than the Barrett 50 Cal spammed point blank

I just watched a clip from Phantom Blood and holy shit it's so goofy. I remember liking it quite a bit when I watched it but the fights just consist of everyone standing around and watching two people do one move at a time like a turn based battle, and Speedwagon commentates what you can see happening on screen. I love it it's so bad

Am I losing it? Is this really just a bunch of racist propaganda spliced in to bookend an official movie trailer?

CW: Extreme racism, murder victims presumably irl, tv series trailer with quick but extreme depictions of SV and SA.

spoiler

I was just looking for new shows that might be interesting to watch and came across one called Lady Love aka X-Rated Queen. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/x_rated_queen says

A young woman from a small Polish town escapes to West Germany and finds herself drawn into the world of adult entertainment.

But it didn't provide a trailer. So I searched around and every instance I turned up links to this trailer on the youtube channel "Trailer Hub" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWJKVn5df_k

The beginning of the video is images of black men presumably accused of mass murder with pictures of their white victims. After 11 seconds of this, some of the actual trailer plays, but is then cut off at 1:13 with the rest of the video being more images of black men and cuts of tv news talking about horrible crimes against white people, usually mass murder. This has NOTHING to do with the trailer or the show so far as I can tell.

I don't know what to make of this. Is the owner of the Trailer Hub youtube channel a white supremacist splicing in this shit to propagandize people trying to see a trailer? Am I stupid and completely missing something here? I'm too high to make sense of this. I did try to report the video, but I don't have a youtube account so of course it won't let me. I wanted to tell someone about this but I don't know anyone who would care or believe me except for here.

Can you have a panic attack in a dream? I think I just had a panic attack in a dream. Everything sucks, I've got one fucking life and even with all the privileges I've had my loser ass hasn't managed to do anything with it, like two decades ago I could have made it work, but with the never ending rise of rent and precarity overall there's no way I could ever do what even my poor-ass parents did. Also no woman wants to date my poor ass, which is smart of them. Also there's a genocide going on and many more to come and I'm losing my mind. I don't want to have to life with all of this shit on my own, I don't have the fucking energy for it. I've even got a good amount of friends, but with the "job market" requiring you to move every few years none of them love anywhere close anymore. Nothing is ever going to get better and nothing is ever going to get easier. I don't want to be on this stupid website but it's the only place I've got left. I don't want to die but I don't want to live like this most of all. I don't want to move back to my parents place, my dad is terribly sick and my mom is a nervous wreck half of the time. The city where I study has (comparably) good mental health facilities, but I can no longer afford the rent there (and I certainly can't when I throw away the job I searched for half a year after the first shift) and where my parents live is a fucking wasteland of all life.

As if this country couldn’t get more dumb

Apparently the NFL and NBA are now involved in some sort of turf war because the NBA used to own Christmas Day, but now the NFL has poured hundreds of millions into games on Netflix

I’m hoping the CTE sport loses out, but they’re expanding to other countries so not hopeful

The reason we haven't had an anime Nosferatu yet is because nobody wants to be the first person to say the name "Utarefson" out loud.

Every few months I spend several hours doing extensive research and comparisons to decide what katana to get. The. I don't get the katana. It's kind of a little get away for myself

Any way, some of the sibs have new babies so I have to get birth celebration long swords for the kidlets. Thinking the hanwei tinker pierce sharp hand and a half sword. It's very light so they should be able to use it regardless of upper body strenght whole having a good reputatio for both ergonomics and cutting. I know many people think the small sword is the ideal modern sword but I think the long swords versatility against many types of armor and at many ranges, and it's ability to be do a rough montante for fighting crowds, means it still has a place.

You know those tv specials where someone either breaks their intended present or forgets to get their loved one a present? And then a benevolent relative or person outside the family offers theirs in exchange? That happened with my relatives except one of them snitched and told the recipient that their present wasn’t originally from the person they got it from “because it’s the right thing to tell the truth.” So now the recipient is angry at being lied to and all this drama came out of something so small.

Makes me glad I don’t celebrate Christmas the way Americans do because holy shit.

complaining about sleeping issues for the 100x timeso like what was it? last sunday or monday?? I think sunday. anyways like I hardly slept that day, just sleeping a few hours that day. and then the next day, again, just another few hours, and then like on christmas eve three hours. and I was hoping on christmas day I could get a full sleep right?!??!? right!? except I couldn't. I dunno why but when I tried to I just couldn't, laying for hours and then I suddenly felt ill, along with as if like I hadn't drank water for like an entire week and just feeling sick suddenly. but it went away after like an hour I gave up and got up. so I dunno what happened there?!? but I feel fine now, except I did get dizzy later on yesterday but that probably due to the sleep.

and then after getting dizzy, I went to lay down hoping to sleep some more right? try to catch up? instead I only got like an hour or two of sleep. and I was trying to sleep not too long ago but gave up. and just why! do I not know how to sleep anymore or what? you think being tired tired tired, would help.

and now I need to stay up and its just gonna be another long day to, because me and my dad talked about getting groceries today. and I legit do not want to have to deal where it was like the beginning of the month where my dad didn't want to go to the store because he was getting really lost in his drinking, and we hardly had any food and I needed to ration food, again.

just, I dunno.

spoiler cw: suicide ideation I just wish for this to end already. I hate this, and it is definitely making it hard to deal with things and messing with my moods greatly, which in turn is making it hard for me to bother to take care of myself, and in turn is making other things worse. and I just want this to end. I also really hate how much this is like, taking away from me to since I'm too tired to do much or to do things I would like to do

I dunno, I just hope sometime today I can go to sleep, and get like plenty plenty plenty hours of sleep since I can't keep doing this, and I am really feeling the health stuff lack of sleep is bringing. :::

I watched this year's Dr Who Christmas special.Somehow the weapon factories of Vilengard has returned.

The Doctor visits a hotel that acts as, like, a time crossroads for different hotels. Immediately noticing something amiss with a bloke in the lobby, hijinks ensue involving a suitcase with a star seed inside.

Things I liked:

  • set design was good in this episode.

  • the scene where The Doctor argues with himself got a couple chuckles outta me.

  • I thought the whole year where he's trapped on earth thing was cute.

Things I didn't like:

  • the return of Vilengard and the Royal Hope Hospital. Dr Who has a huge universe but we are trapped seeing the same images and people again and again forever.

  • dialogue felt too marvel quippy.

Overall:

The Disneyifcation of Dr Who continues. After a series with some ups, we're on the path of Dr Who returning to slop territory. I'm still gonna watch that shit anyway.
