Things I've learned so far:

  • the door handles are shitty and flimsy

  • the car sometimes doesn't go into park and will keep driving

  • they have a 'toy box' app including a whoopie cushion.

  • one of the settings for the whoopie cushion is, "I'm so Random!"

  • they are manufactured super quickly and sometimes are missing things as crucial as the charging kit

  • they come in at different charges

  • they come in on transport mode which limits the speed to 31 mph

  • they have an annoying ass UFO sound when you go in reverse, but are completely silent when they drive forward

  • they are just so plastic

He would have been infinitely cooler by just saying 'fuck you nerd' when asked to debate. They're just performative bullshit. You're not liking the ideas. You're liking the person.

I did about forty or so story submissions, trying to do several a day. There are cool sites now where you can shotgun applications for free. Over the span of a few months.

I said earlier that I was working on submitting my stories to different literature journals and today, I got a bite.

It's the first time I'll be getting a paid publication and that's really cool. I'm so glad I found this community that helped me feel confident enough to put my work out there.

I look forward to getting more of my work out there to corrupt the youth.

Holy shit, I think this is my most upbeared post. Thanks everybody! :sicko-wholesome:

Also, it's a sci-fi story about a future where body modifications are cheap and easy. I wanted to explore how even good technology can be bad in and inherently oppressive society.

Names that really pique your interest or have some deeper meaning or just sound really cool.

For me, I like a lot of SMT/Persona titles, particularly - Nocturne's Japanese name, Lucifer's Call and the Persona 2 duology, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment.

Were there any games you liked in part because of their title?

There are a few stories like that. I heard there's one where a single ruler who can allocate magic to others and the wealthy surround and pamper them in exchange for power.

Fantasy has so much potential to explore things like wealth and class. It's a shame that jkr is the extent to which most people know the genre.

We can't have a character unable to afford all of the frivolous magic shit. That would create too much character tension and motivation. Who wants to read a story about being poor in a fantasy setting?

As I wrote that, I realized more and more how little thought Rowling put into her created world. He spends time with a poor magic family and they still have things like a family house and land. They don't show adaptations they have to make while living in poverty like cutting costs on food or luxury items.

There was also a mistake on her part by making the dad obsessed with the nonmagical world, yet unable to utilize savvy to benefit himself or his family. I mean if you can't afford to buy clothes from the magical world, and they don't seem all that different from mundane ones, why not get a job in the muggle world where being able to magic shit would give an advantage?

And that in itself speaks to Rowling's lack of creativity. She could've illustrated arbitrary value on things. Like Ron getting dress code violations or teased for only being able to afford muggle shoes or whatever. A kid wearing expensive Air Jordans to magic school and getting a reality check on arbitrary markers of class? That would be interesting and you could still have the story be much the same.

Oh well...

Oh yeah that all tracks. Spreading democracy in another country is a huge tell.

I had a political science professor talk about working in a campaign with a politician who tried to make a compromise with people for or against the death penalty.

The compromise was that inmates given a life sentence would be offered a lethal pill that they could take at any time. I think he said the idea was that they would have it in their cell to use at any time.

That shit sounded fucking wild to me, but I was like 18 at the time and didn't know why I felt that way.

Looking back now, the psychological torture of being imprisoned for life with a pill like that would be immense and immoral as fuck.

Anyway, that's just one from me. What about the rest of you?
