Huh that's interesting cause I remember the syria flag changing almost right after the who-must-go government collapsed. Didn't realize Afghanistan also had a flag change, which makes sense. Guess this is good confirmation to normies how inauthentic the overthrow of Assad was.

What's up with Yanis? He's been having the weirdest takes on the LePen conviction

When Turkey's courts ban Erdogan's frontrunning Presidential opponent, the liberal mind rebels and rejects forthwith Erdogan's argument that the law is the law. When France's courts do they same, the liberal mind rejoices & parrots the law is the law. Mind-boggling hypocrisy!

And

Varoufakis stressed that “I think Le Pen is a fascist, personally. I’d like to see her be destroyed politically.” At the same time, in his view, lawfare “has been disproportionately waged against the outer Right, because the Left has disappeared”. The Greek politician compared Le Pen’s treatment to the means used by the Democratic Party against Donald Trump, only “the French are doing it in a more obvious, less defensible way than the American Democrats.”

Thinking that what the dems did wrong was not go hard enough on Trump seems laughable. They demonized him but also let him get away with doing a bunch of illegal shit. Is the lesson there not to demonize him? When has a fascist ever been defeated "politically"? He's saying it would somehow be better for the "left" in France if they let LePen get away with embezzlement.

I think it's the unpredictability which probably scares countries away more than the tariffs themselves

I'm also not sure if he genuinely believes that US can build their own domestic industry if countries start trading less with them. There's no way, but he acts as if that is the plan. trump-enlightened

Surprised Yanis has this opinion

Lol @ destroying her politically, as if that would ever work.

He also took away the wrong lesson for how the Dems treated Trump, as if they were too hard on him. LePen's treatement is actually quite the opposite of the way the Dems treated Trump. Does he really think if the Dems attacked Trump less that they could've won? Usually his analysis is pretty decent, but I struggle to see his logic here.

The worrying part is what a declining empire will do as it inevitably falls

Canada and EU economies are also going down the drain. These countries will not be a safe haven for scientists until they understand the link between capitalism and fascism and reverse course.

It's also telling of the affect of propaganda that they aren't considering China, though tbf I'd imagine it's pretty hard for a skilled foreigner to get a job of their field in China.

Conveniently we now have LLM's that non-technical capitalists (all capitalist owners pretty much) think can replace scientists

Yea, as the other commenter said, they meant the opposite

Yea, the unearned confidence really irks me. Someone told me homelessness is a function of government spending as if it was a fact and I wanted to shoot myself
