I thought Catch-22 was a satire

They also need to get more creative with who they are hiring and what "benefits" they are offfering. A split schedule like that sucks for someone looking for anything more than part time work. If they can come up with benefits that attract say, stay at home parents looking to make some extra money, that particular split in the schedule may not be so bad for them. But they would also likely need other non-traditional side benefits that full time workers in other jobs might not, like the ability to bring younger children (not yet in school) to work with them on their route. A benefit like that might bring in more drivers and not even cost the company anything but too many places are stuck in a traditional workplace mindset.
Don't lay offs make sense though if people are being more productive at home? The tech market is contracting so they won't be looking to take on new projects so much as cutting unnecessary overhead (and labor is usually the largest tech company expense), which they only have because the increase in productivity isn't being offset by new work (projects) coming in?
I hated working from home, it's not for me. As soon as I could I went back to the office and I've turned down jobs that require too much WFH.
However, I do work with a lot of WFH people. My only "complaint" about their "productivity" is to please, for the love of God, have them working the same timezone hours as the area they are servicing if their job is time sensetive. If I need to get ahold of someone anytime something goes wrong with a hauler cause you're the only one with access to the system then don't have your work day be hours off from typical trucking hours in my location! Looking at you logistics...
There are also a lot of kits that include most of what you'll need (especially for cross stitch). It can be a really convenient way to start and most kits come with really good instructions on how to cross stitch too.
It looks like this subscription may be for their "smart" printers. So the subscription would be for the connection to phone service. Why you'd need a smart printer is beyond me but they apparently think there is a market for it.
I think it's for "smart" washing machines that you can control from your phone etc. So that's likely what the "updates" would be related too...why you'd need to control your washing machine from afar is beyond me but some people love smart gadgets and will by anything that connects to their phone.
Is that on purpose or is the thing so badly made that it's blinking like that?
I can't figure out where all the lemmy people posting about reddits "power tripping power mods" were posting. I think I ran across one mod in the wild (niche sub) that I thought was crazy and they got run off the platform eventually. What were people posting that they were getting banned all over the place? Maybe the mods weren't the problem if multiple were banning you?
As long as the thing they don't like about your face isn't it's color. But seriously American employment laws (in most states) allow for companies to fire people for any non-protected reason (protected reason = gender, race, age, etc). If a co.pany does illegally fire a person it can be a real up hill battle to prove it because at-will is so permissive.
I can't say a firing like this one sits super well with me personally but it's almost certainly legal.
If Fast and Furious has a 29% score then RT isn't a good indicator of movies. They don't keep making those movies because they arent popular. That whole franchise is basically printing money.
Starship troopers has a line in it that the crusades were created by population pressure (primarily young men being denied a good chance at a future).
