Yeah I second this. The more I think about it I think you could actually do a pretty good paneer substitution w/ silken Tofu and the right spice blend. I tend to just forget different tofu firmness exist because I can never eat enough extra firm tofu lol

Tofu + nooch is very good but it’s tricky because I find when you add nooch into like a soup or something it doesn’t thicken it and the flavor just disappears. Nooch is best as a garnish IMO

You’re right that Tofu is incredible but my love of Tofu runs so deep that i genuinely like it best when it’s retaining its original texture In some way. Of course this only applies to firm tofu. I can see silken tofu being a good paneer substitute so maybe that’s where this user went wrong. I generally find when you try and use firm tofu to make something creamier I am often dissatisfied with the results.

I agree with you in no small part because it’s just not a good way to use Tofu IMO.

You may disagree but even just using like cashew butter and/or chick pea flour would probably be better and more authentic.

You’re not wrong that a lot of Vegan cooking influencers are trash and anyone trying to use Tofu as a cheese replacement is deeply unserious.

Tofu is amazing in its own right and there really aren’t any perfect cheese substitutes. The science is improving but they aren’t there yet.

There a lot of fatty starch amalgamations that pass for cheese and cultured cashew butters but ultimately you just kinda learn to live without it and it’s NBD.

It’s wild how often the right uses this argument when their incredible gullibility leaves them looking moronic. Like, no, it doesn’t mean anything about society. It means you specifically are dumb and naive and vastly overestimating your own intelligence.

They really do talk like children who have vastly overestimated their own intelligence and understanding of politics and political theory. They’re just sitting comfortably right at the top of that Dunning-Krueger peak.

Like the one commenter bringing up Al Gore losing by 500 votes as if the reason he lost is the voters fault. That is a truly childish analysis. The reason Al Gore lost was because America is a sham democracy and there’s no amount of voting for a milquetoast neoliberal that will ever change that.

Like, Al Gore spent a decade being the smug climate change awareness guy and since then he has been completely overshadowed in the conversation by a literal child who actually has the spine to say Capitalism is the problem. And none of that even has to do with why he lost.

Al Gore lost because of Astro turfed riots demanding a recount that, surprise surprise, worked out in bush’s favor, and was then protected by the fascist Supreme Court and specifically by a judge who was installed by Bush sr.

I think about that a lot when I listen to democrats pearl clutching about January 6th. If you seriously think what went wrong in the 2000 election was that people didn’t vote hard enough and not; A. The party that is ostensibly our bulwark against fascism failed to inspire an overwhelming electoral turnout because of their terminally uninspiring rhetoric and policies and B. The fascist Supreme Court stealing the election in favor of the right.

Then boy do I have some jingling keys I think these V@aushites are really gonna love.

Also isn’t this guy a confirmed pedophile at this point?

Deeply unserious

Yeah it’s like, Peter Thiel exists, but he is the exception, not the rule. And he probably wouldn’t even be where he is if he wasn’t a white cis man.
