Feels bad 😞

Yea that's what I'm thinking. We shouldn't forget that he hasn't done anything to close military bases overseas (yet?), so he's not completely pulling out of these vassals.

But keeping these countries inline with threats only and no economic incentives will probably make them reconsider their relationship to the US especially if they can't placate their population while the US puts pressure on them with tariffs, annexation etc.

Idk I feel Trump doesn't understand that America already pretty much owns Canada. Given all the things he says, I don't think he understands how American imperialism works in general. Otherwise I can't comprehend why cutting USAID, defunding CIA, tariffing Taiwan etc. helps his class other than some short term gains that will be long term disasters (for the US)

Yup. But also I've learned not to ever expect the moment of catharsis when people realize you were right the whole time. I think even it's too narcissistic to expect it.

The way I rationalize talking to people is with the goal of planting seeds in their minds, and hope that the sunlight and water, which in this analogy are the contradictions of society, grow those seeds and sprout into something.

It's the root of their success. I don't expect them ever to change while the American empire exists (even in a diminished state).

I mean alot of the people who will suffer are not the ones who have committed the evil of the empire.

But what sucks is you are still kind of right. There is no path I see to a revolution where the material conditions are comfy for the masses. Revolutions happen when the oppressed can longer stand their oppression. I don't know what the theory behind accelerationism is any further than material conditions getting rapidly worse creating a revolution. The system under the democrats was what seemed like a boiling frog situation. We were going to destroy human civilization while exploiting the rest of the world with a moral guise. And because of how the system individuates and pushes us towards consumption to alleviate our alienation, I never thought it could result in any meaningful revolution. Ironically it's the fascists that changed this slow decline, but by replacing it with a faster one.

I do think accelerationism, or maybe just a small taste of accelerationism, is what gets us to build an actual socialist future.

I can see the appeal of him to boomers. They have this perceived superiority over the younger generation that is founded on nothing but being older than them, and people like Maher reinforce that

Ah gotcha, that makes more sense than what I was thinking. Yea like other people said here I think co-op is the way to go.

I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to organizing so take this with a grain of salt, but you might want to just focus on solving the issue at hand before making some rule for communist purity. That way you can be more far reaching in gathering a community around it.

If you are personally a communist and you set a good example in your community then naturally people may follow. But starting from the top down with communism is probably not going to help and might put your project dead on arrival.

Do you have any socialist orgs near you? Honestly I think that would be the best people to have discussion with as in-person > online (though that's just my preference)

sure this is a cost-cutting measure

I'm so tired of hearing this. We're going to annihilate the human race to cut costs

It's there only weapon. Being morally superior. Actually it's not even moral, it's just being an ass kisser to whatever laws in place and assuming it's moral because it's a law.
