I think my experience is skewed by not having a dcfc capable car. I charge exclusively j1772. And use plugshare to find the chargers. In 5 years of ownership I've charged not at home probably 150 times. Of those times I would say I couldn't get the charger to work maybe 20 times. And of those 20 probably half didn't have any other option at the same location that I was able to get working.

Again this is skewed by filtering through plug share and not even attempting locations that have comments claiming they're broken.

Not to be confused with NiPS. (Nipples per second) Which indicates how many definitely female nipples are in view per second. This is a better metric as many scenes are shown with partial clothing and therefore don't get counted in the NPPS metric correctly.

I'd bet the car originally had lug bolts in a m12x1.25.... which is also a common spark plug thread size

Shit no deals with Boeing, Northrup Grumman, etc.

Oh well, I'm certain they won't bribe Congress to force their deals through..... /s

Idk, 9 months of housing, food, etc is pretty damned expensive.

Those are just fake vests bought specially for that purpose. Nobody would think to take off their actual vest at the last gathering for the school year.

Damn right in the feels. Exactly how the interaction between myself (brain) and my boss(dino) feels.

Meh, I don't own the servers, I don't even get 0.000001% share of the profit the company reports. Let them do what they want.

You only have to do that the next 30-40 years of your life if you live the next 30-40 years...... just saying.

It could be worse, you could have to work the next 60 years.

Thermostat questions (partizle.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by ironhydroxide@partizle.com to c/homeassistant@lemmy.world

I'm looking to replace a "dumb" thermostat in my house. My biggest problem is, the Family (well MIL) will be the primary user of said thermostat. Were it up to me, i'd just duplicate the setup I have in my detached garage (ESP32 and 4channel relay board, with remote temp sensors).
My second biggest problem is many of the smart thermostats requiring internet access and control only being available through their External API. Ideally I'd like something that is 100% local control, with opt in for any remote data.

What setups do you have? do you like it? is it "normal" person friendly?

I've recently decided to up my security, but I don't want it to be an annoyance for the family to use. I also have an aversion to web hosted things, so I'd like something that is locally hosted/controlled, without a "Setup app"

I'm open to deadbolt and regular latch smart locks.

What options are out there? what do you use? do you like it?

I've recently been trying to degoogle myself, and in doing so I'm going to need another email. I tried ProtonMail, but apparently only business accounts can use SMTP, even though their features claim SMTP access. I'm plenty fine paying for the service, but going from the $6/month to $12/month just to get notification emails from my server doesn't seem worth it to me. I've not looked into what all else comes with Proton's Business features, but i'm not really running a business or trying to start one up.

What do you use? do you like it? How's the cost/features?

I’ve recently decided to try and degoogle my life, or at least lessgoogle it. One app I use regularly is GoogleVoice. It works really well to keep my work and personal phone numbers separated. Also works reasonably well to keep my personal number clean from spam.

I'm looking for a mobile app (android) that provides similar functionality, What options do you know of that may fill this gap?

I've asked in Android@lemmy.world, but thought that i'd get more FOSS suggestions here.

I'll start out saying, i'm not very good with this stuff.... I have an Ender 5+.
I had it setup with octoprint and klipper from a guide I found a couple years ago, and it worked OK for me to get klipper installed, working on octoprint, and pressure advance tuned ok ish.

Recently my SD Card became corrupt, and like an idiot I didn't have anything backed up.

So I'm trying to setup the system again from less than scratch and it's kicking my ass.

I've decided i'd like to try Mainsail, as it's interface looks interesting (no other reason) But I can't for the life of me get it working.

EVERY guide I try and follow seems to fail on the connect between klipper and the printer.

I can flash the klipper firmware successfully, and have updated the port ID in the printer.cfg file, but it always comes back to klipper not being able to see/access the port.

Any help would be appreciated here.
