I'm gonna have to say no to that. I love my ultrasonic sensor. It works when wet and is in a way more reachable location (the screen). No need to reach behind the phone or stretch your finger to unlock, no need to lift your phone when it's on a table. The success rate is basically identical and it's lightning fast, even faster than a physical sensor. The final perk is it doesn't create a large circle opening on the back of a case so the back of your phone is totally smooth save for the camera.

Qualcomm settles and continues to pay ARM a bigger shitload of money, Qualcomm SoC prices increase to make up for that, phone prices increase further.
I like Brave because it's fast and smooth with great AdBlock and security.
That my dear friend would be beautiful little Africa.
I've just returned to Lemmy after a while so I'm OOTL. Can anyone give me a gist of what happened with the recent vegan drama on here? Or maybe link to a post I can read?
Google and Samsung both have a track record of delivering updates even past the promised date so far.
Their phones are far too expensive and their software support is horrible.
The reader being under the screen makes the most sense in my opinion. It's the part of the phone you touch the most. And speed is a non issue anymore. Ultrasonic sensors are about as fast if not faster than the old capacitive ones now. They're also as accurate in my experience and after a while I've learned to put my finger exactly where it is so it's a non issue. It also unlocks when my finger is wet unlike the older capacitive ones which is huge for me. So in conclusion I disagree. Fingerprint sensors should be in display and ultrasonic.
You should. I always keep mine updated.
Haven't used F-Droid since I started using GrapheneOS on my Pixel lol. Just use Obtainium.
The 8 has a shitty optical sensor. You've gotta try those Samsung ultrasonic sensors or those on the Pixel. Way different experience. Just a light tap and it unlocks.
