I did some spreadsheet maths to understand some of the reproduction stuff, it did clarify, and also I found some mistakes. Seems like Marx was actually not great at math, lmao.

Vol 3 has more stuff about the credit system, but I think that part was heavily edited, or actually authored by Engels.

Use-value is the value of an object in the eyes of the consumer, the actual value that it provides when it is used. The use-value of an apple -> it nurtures your body.

Exchange-value is the quantifiable value of an object in an exchange. How does the value apple measure against an orange? The exchange-value of an apple -> the number of socially necessary labor time to produce it (according to the labor theory of value).

I really hope they are not setting the stage for military intervention in Mexico, that would be their stupidest move.

Oh, for sure, they're all 19th century books. He can probably get everything he's interested in reading from Project Gutenberg or something.

No, it wasn't The Last Days of Pompeii, it ended with am Rom I think.

I'll pass on those recommendations lol. When I was a kid he had us reading the viking stories in the car on the way to school so we would practice our German, I thought they were cool stories tbh. I had forgotten all about them until I read Jared Diamond's Collapse book recently.

Me: "What did you think about Trump's mugshot?"

My neighbor: "We got him!"

Me: "My daughter laughed and said it was funny that "they put him in timeout" because he was only there for like 20 minutes."

My neighbor: "Wait, he's out already?"

No, he's just reeeeally into Roman history, I grew up hearing about that stuff constantly. Also viking stories, like about Erik the Red and Leif Erikson. His dad was in the Wehrmacht and spent 4 years in a POW camp in Russia so my dad really hates Russia and is constantly bringing up the horseshoe theory. I don't think my grandad himself hated the Russians though, he was a big fan of the Red Army Choir, had a few LPs.
