Honestly? He seemed pretty nervous throughout the debate and made gaffes like saying he met school shooters. The "Iranian proxies" wire probably just got crossed with the "support Israel no matter what" wire and resulted in this ridiculous sentence.
Hard to stay calibrated on exactly 99% Hitler, easy to drift a few points up or down accidentally.
Yeah his whole answer seemed like a jumbling of two different pre-prepared lines that were probably supposed to be the standard American imperial shit but instead came out as genocidal word salad
