/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

Whole thing is written from an Earth, not United Federation of Planets perspective.

“No humans should go there, signed one human and one half human”

I too repeatedly note in official documents which people are "pure blood" and "half breed" to make my point.

I'm sure it was meant in more of a "dual-citizenship" way, I can only imagine how complicated the logistics of being part of two interstellar species would be.

Nah, this image was recovered from the logs:

The archives must have been tampered with. That couldn't have been my sweet Pike.

I cannot ignore it what the hell is going on with the capital i in that?

[–] teft@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I’m not sure what you mean. What capital i?

Edit: I just looked at it on a larger screen. It appears to be an issue with using a small font size. The i's do have tittles they've just blended together on the smaller font.

Does dual citizenship make one less of a citizen of one of those countries?

There are two TOS episodes that directly referenced the "United Earth Space Probe Agency" as the operational command for the Enterprise.

Basically, the United Federation of Planets did not exist when the show started, and its basic structure wasn't settled on until well into TNG. There's a second season TNG where the Klingons are federation members.

Was it? Will have to rewatch, but I thought they just lied to the waking Klingon crew.

S2E17, "Samaritan's Snare". Wesley said it on screen, so it's canon.

There's a decent write-up on the stack exchange.

I remember that now, it felt like an out of place throwaway line later that just didn't fit.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 6 points 2 months ago

Makes sense, since Star Fleet probably can't decide that unilaterally for the entire Federation
