Literally everything Gamergate dipshits said about "SJWs" was projection:

  • They're ridiculously sensitive and easy to offend.
  • They want to force the entire industry to conform to their politics.
  • They're single-minded obsessives who go nuclear the moment a game fails a single one of their myriad purity tests.
  • A large portion of them are tourist outsiders invading the hobby who see it as nothing but a tool to push their political agenda.

“I’ve played every civ game” no you haven’t.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 28 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I've played 2, 3, 5 and 6. Never played Civ 1 or Civ 4.

My biggest gripe is not enough USSR leaders

[–] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

missed the one civ with a USSR leader lol

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

1 has Stalin, 4 has Stalin and Mao

[–] combat_brandonism@hexbear.net 2 points 9 hours ago

Missed out on Stalin and Mao in Civ4

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago (3 children)

never played 4

big oof, purists still really pump it up and play it (i've seen people who consider 5 a disgrace and 6 an abomination lmao)

4 would be great with all the mods and shit, but the early 3d graphics shit is ugly and i dont say this lightly.

the awkward move from beautiful 2d to disgusting 3d was a growth period i dont want to revisit.

Yeah that’s why the graphics to 6 feel like such a step in the wrong direction to me. You have this elegant and beautiful design with 5 and then make 6 look like a mobile game?

[–] SummerIsTooWarm@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's always interesting to see different perspectives. I think the graphics of Civ IV are quite charming and I play it to this day.

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

to each their own. I think it's because I played a lot of these in my awful teenage years, like uh... Sacrifice, Empire Earth, Soul Reaver etc.

Im glad you can enjoy it though! cat-trans

I played a ton of Civ 5 as a kid/teenager, Beyond Earth was the first game I got burned on buying, played some Civ 6 and like some things like the climate change and natural disasters.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

beyond earth is actually decent now with the xpac, i think it's underrated

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

6 is really, really good

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

4 is good. Probably my favorite in the series. Refined almost all of the jank out of the early series, hadn't yet introduced the all-new jank that started in 5.
