According to many comments, the US government DOES use SQL, and Musk is not understanding much what's going on.

There are already attempts to make it so your name has to match your birth certificate in order to vote.

Targets both trans rights and women's rights, simultaneously.

But wouldn't that target Trump since his original name was Drumpf or something?

I hope they clash hard over it

Oh, great. So it's also another regressive push towards recreating the mysognist shithole decades where married women were treated as the property of their husbands. What's next, giving married men in heterosexual relationships two votes?

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

At one point in the campaign JD Vance suggested that people with children should get more votes than childfree people. I'm certain he, and many others, would be down for that.

I'm not american but how exactly is making your name match birth certificate denying women's rights?

[–] animephantasm@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 21 hours ago

In the US it is common for women to legally change their their last name to their Husband's last name when they get married. Having eligibility to vote tied to your name matching your name at birth would make these women unable to vote.

Normally when you get married the woman changes her last name to match her husband. So this rule would make married women unable to vote.
