I've noticed every chud grifter and politician (same thing, am I right? HAW HAW dad joke owl) seems to use AI art. For memes, for video thumbnails, for their dumb articles that only your 60 year old estranged relative reads, for their shitty Twitter "gotchas". They love that shit. The uglier the AI generated slop is the better. Why do you think that is? Lack of talent? Hatred of artists? What drives this love of poor quality?

Definitely the hatred of artists. It’s telling that automating art is their top priority, but if I were to get in their heads it would be something else.

For once, THEY’RE the ones embracing the future. Tech companies ripped off the mask and are unambiguously on their side. Anyone who opposes this must be a rube not worth considering. In short, they got one of the few things they envy about anyone to the left of them. So they’ll gleefully lord it over.

This is definitely it. Capitalist technology has always been reactionary, non-liberating and inching ever closer to a fascist relationship to the world. But the shift with Trump has been that big tech doesn't even need to hide it anymore (every single big tech corporation has done billion dollar contracts with the first trump admin and they've been sucking up to him as hard as they can)
