Had a lovely night and need a little snack before bed. The popcorn maker makes me perfect popcorn everytime no jhudgemnt no questions asked. I live in an otherwise-gizmo-free household, but I do genuinely use this things twice a week on average. What gizmo are you not ashamed of?

I also got an immersion blender for $20 a week ago and used it once to make squash soup. Perhaps that isa second gizmo... It's gotten more use than my microave in the same timespan...

after a two second google search the etymology is mostly unknown but guessed to have originated in the US navy in 1940's as a shorter replacement of whatchamacallit

gizmo -> gadget you don't know the name of

gadget -> any mechanical or electronic device

i think if you get really pedantic you could consider a bag a mechanical device, like you're applying force to it to group and hold object(s) at a lower center of gravity than you normally could. I don't think most people would consider it mechanical but eff the haters y'know
