In part one of this saga - I forgot to mention Tom Nichols. He's a awful right-wing concern troll. During Trump 1.0 - he built his brand on being a "reasonable" republican. He appeared (and appears?) on MSNBC, etc. Many libs are stupid enough to listen to him even though he's shit. I had a quickie look at this Wikipedia page

Tom Nichols (academic)

Nichols had a cameo role on the HBO television series Succession, appearing as right-wing political commentator Ben Stove in the episode entitled "America Decides."

He writes for The Atlantic and I didn't know he pretended to leave the GOP in 2018 and is now officially an independent. Kruse quoted him because Kruse wants to remind everybody that the democrats must be "reasonable" and never, ever move a millimeter to the left.
