I only support Trump in the sense that his wildly illegal actions drive the US Empire into the ground and expose how fucking corrupt and stupid our political system is.

If Hillary was elected, the whole Epstein thing would never have been a media sensation. The only reason it got so big is because dumbfuck Donald doesn't have the political acumen to avoid shit like this. The more Donald Trump is in power, the more the seams that form this corrupt system start to unravel. I don't think he's significantly worse than Biden and Roe V Wade being overturned is proof. Biden is leading us into increasing escalations with China and Russia, continuing the covid deathcult, and presiding over an increasingly shit economic system while doing fuck all to stop it.

Wait. What does Biden have to do with roe v Wade being overturned?

[–] Bnova@hexbear.net 27 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He was given a literal month of advanced notice to do anything and managed to still act surprised when it got overturned. Democrats controlled the house and Senate when it got overturned in theory they could have passed a bill to codify it.

I don't even know why I bothered to comment. Apparently no one here knows how the government actually works.

I remember there were plenty of mainstream articles about steps Biden could take with his executive powers, that he never took, to work around this and provide abortion access to affected people, some even floated the idea of putting abortion clinics on military bases and other federal land. Where were the task forces, where was the bully pulpit, where was the fire to do anything but spout flaccid, meaningless platitudes? Maybe it’s because Biden himself is a catholic with a history of anti-choice stances, who planned to appoint an anti-choice judge to a lifetime appointment in Kentucky a day before Roe v Wade was overturned, but I’m not sure that incoherent sack of bones is the one driving the executive branch at this point so who knows. I blame the entire party. They could use their political and media leverage to push him to act, but they haven’t and they won’t, because abortion restrictions only affect the working class, and raising a stink about it would get in the way of their real priorities.

*and as GayActorMichaelDouglas said, it would set a precedent for Democrats meaningfully helping people. If they set that precedent, and show that action is possible, people are going to start asking for more improvements to their lives, improvements the donors don’t approve of. Better to maintain the illusion that they’re trying their best but that positive change, or even reversing negative change, is impossible.

Smol bean Joe Biden wants to ensure Americans have bodily autonomy, but the mean Supreme Court says he can’t powercry-1

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No that's the problem we do.

When they want to do something they ram it through and ehn people complain they say "fuck you what are you gonna do about it" (tax cuts, anything republicans want, getting rid of roe)

When they dont actually want to do something they either make up bullshit excuses like some unelected obscure bean counter said no so we can't do it (budget reconcilliation) or if things get really dire they have just enough of them stop pretending to give a shit to stop whatever might happen (Lieberman, Manchin)

But as usual a dozen people all actually tried to explain and engage and good faith, and once again you completely ignored all of it and just insist "we don't know how government works"

Condescending lib piece of shit

[–] Dumeinst@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Explain what? How you think government should work? ie. The president in this case should just pass the laws that I agree with. You folks are rancid.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

You folks are rancid.

You made your account specifically to whine and cry at "you folks." You don't have to be here.

Republicans overturned Roe by legally manipulating the court. Biden refuses to legally manipulate the court to solve it. Case closed.

Aside from the parts already said. For all the talk that dems have said about how RvW was on the line for basically all of my adult life. They never did anything to set it as anything other than a ruling. Which if said ruling was anything other than a win for its time but always possible to be overturned. Then it shows how little they really care about protecting reproductive rights, and just cared about being able to use it as a trump card to scare a few more people to show up to vote. And therefore it was always more useful to them to keep it that way. Want to have an easy way to make sure third parties never get a chance? Make sure that the people that are truly scared of RvW being lost are riled up to harass and attack/vote shame anyone that says they are voting for anything other than team blue. There are even quotes from Obama (and maybe Hillary but she obviously didn't try to fight hard while working under him) where they even outright say that protecting RvW by making it law wasn't a priority.

Always putting our Military Industrial Complex (and more importantly) their weird obsession with being anything other than hard centrist and not upsetting the conservatives. Never ending talk of "bipartisanship" by letting Republicans dictate what does and doesn't fly. It is always just put back on the voters as being their job to "vote harder" or other bs that puts blame on everyone but them. For all the shit that they say in campaigns and some snarky interviews "dunking on" the right. Much like how protesting in the US is just about some one day marches and speeches where everyone high-fives and posts for clout before just going home. And when people that really give a fuck stick around for longer or anything more than that. They are then told that they are not "protesting correctly" and those same libs side with the right and begin supporting more funding for pigs.

Always riding on the next election as being too soon to push for anything that isn't safely supported by at least 90% of the voters (of both parties). They could give zero fucks about gay marriage until it was safe to support it. More of that "oh I completely agree with you 100%, but it just isn't the right time" and "we need to just wait to wait for you to have those rights until America is ready for it". They are all the perfect example of what MLK Jr was talking about with his speech about white moderates being the real oppressors. It is easy for them to go slow on all of this because it doesn't materially or directly impact them. Just like the same liberals that vote for them and claim to support X cause just as long as it isn't in their backyard or otherwise inconvenience them.

he did fuckall to stop it or work around it to secure abortion access for people affected.

Wait. What does Biden have to do with roe v Wade being overturned?

He and the Democrats failed to protect it given ample time and warning. Obama didn't give a shit and literally said abortion rights weren't a priority when he was in office. Then Biden, given ample opportunity refused and still refuses to take action to mitigate the decision.

but but seperation of powers and and...

No one gives a shit about separation of powers and what the government is constitutionally allowed to do when it comes to blowing the fuck out of civilians in the Middle East. You're being a fed a line about how they can't do shit because they don't want to set a precedent of helping people in meaningful ways. When it comes to helping the average person, Biden says he has to follow separation of powers and the court's decision. But when it comes to illegal wars, he doesn't give a shit. You're making excuses for people who would literally murder you to keep the economy going, that's what Covid-19 proved.
