Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Summary

The Senate confirmed Russell Vought as White House budget director in a 53-47 party-line vote despite Democratic opposition.

Vought, a key author of Project 2025, advocates aggressive budget cuts and expanding executive power.

Democrats warned he will slash programs like Medicare, Social Security, and veterans' benefits while promoting Trump’s policy agenda.

Republicans praised his confirmation, with Speaker Mike Johnson stating he will help dismantle the regulatory state.

Oh wow. Democrats actually know how to party line vote instead of being complicit in the name of bipartisanship. Took them long enough to figure it out.

I'm starting to wonder if this is all a conspiracy along the lines of some major geological event is going to happen, most of the middle and lower class will die or go through extreme upheaval, and there's a power grab now so that those in power now already have the institutions and resources set up to keep power in that scenario.

Something like global warming/apophis asteroid just completely resetting our game board.

This ties in with the anti LGBTQ+ movement to try and force an increase in population as much as possible so that there can be a larger numbers of foot soldiers for a resource grab.

It's all very tin foil hat, but it feels more reasonable than it should considering everything else that's been happening recently.

If the above is a thing, Europe should think about offering intelligent US citizens even nicer visa packages to take advantage of the trump hate.

No we are just out of resources to scrape. Everyone already owns them and the rich don't openly fight the rich.

The new resources are the minutes of the workers lives while they are not working. Our thoughts on brands and policy. The new children that can be workers for life. And occasionally any new area that might not already have a drill and mine in it currently they might be able to make one work in like Greenland or the ocean floors.

There is just a new fight among those that already have everything for whatever more they can get and there simply isn't much left to go around.
A bunch of them believe the end is coming for them or for all of us. This is just about getting the highest score before it comes.

[–] scottmeme@sh.itjust.works 18 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Pineapple is too kind, cactus is a much better fit for his large gaping ass and will be extremely painful.

[–] beansbeansbeans@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Pineapples are acidic and eat tissue.

Republicans celebrated the confirmation vote, with House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., saying on X that with Vought's help, “we’ll restore fiscal sanity to our budgets and dismantle the ~~regulatory~~ state.”

Fixed that for him.

What I find funny (not "haha" funny) is that when he gets what he wants all of these people will be out of a job and stripped of their power regardless of party affiliation. They don't seem like the type that like to share power.

What I find funny (not “haha” funny)

"curious"

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

“Funny haha”. Because of the context I didn’t even think about it.

I haven’t heard “funny haha” in a long time.

Man. If I were gay I’d start a band (or something) called Funny HaHa.

The world is so packed with people I’d say someone has by now.
