example of the lands lost due to the dawes act

The Dawes Act of 1887 was a post-Indian Wars law that illegally dissolved 90 million acres of Native lands from 1887 to 1934. Signed into law by President Grover Cleveland on February 8, 1887, the Dawes Act expedited the cultural genocide of Native Americans. The negative effects of the Dawes Act on Indigenous tribes would result in the enactment of the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, the so-called β€œIndian New Deal.”

It authorized the U.S. to divide indigenous tribal land into allotments for heads of families and individuals, leading to a loss of 2/3rds of land (~100 million acres) over the next 50 years.

The law converted traditional systems of land tenure into a state-imposed system of private property by forcing Native Americans to "assume a capitalist and proprietary relationship with property" that did not previously exist in their cultures, according to historian Kent Blansett. The act declared remaining lands after allotment as "surplus" and available for sale, including to non-Natives.

Between 1887 and 1934, indigenous people lost control of about 100 million acres of land, or about two-thirds of the land base they held in 1887, as a result of the act.

The loss of land and the break-up of traditional leadership of tribes had such devastating consequences that many scholars refer to the Dawes Act as one of the most destructive U.S. policies for indigenous people in history.

Can anyone help me find out the source of a Kropotkin quote? I am trying to find out in which of his writings he said "The hopeless don't revolt because revolution is an act of hope"

Any boardgame heads up? I just played a one that I thought was amazing.

Nawalli

It was a Kickstarter joint. I bought it off the site so I don't knownhow that went though. 8/10 on Boardgame geeks. Honestly like a 10 for me. The theme is delicious. It has beautiful art. Everything is based on aztec mythology and has cool cultural tidbits for flavor. The game is an amazing mix of tactical and card battling. I played it in a hookah cafe smoking tobacco. Which fits the theme well. If anyone wants I will gush about it. I am gonna go buy the expansion set next time I have money. It is probably on upper bound of complexity for games that could be popular. I am gonna check the discord and see about the community. I know this one won't blow up as much as it deserves.

Considering how my New Year mental reset went (IE: not great lol), I wonder if it'd be wise to take advantage of Valentine's Day to try and settle this situationship-ish thing I have going.

Bean postings.

I just swung by the Chinese market and got some tofu Jerky. I would defect for this alone.

Bonus, if we made Jerky out of the soy beans we fed cows it would infact solve world hunger with delicious vegan snacks. That is always true I mean. Just sometimes how big a waste it all is just hits viscerally you know

My laptop is broken in a dozen small ways that while not making it impossible to use, but just very annoying to use. Now the battery is completely dead and doesn't charge anymore and the cable has connection problems, meaning the thing just randomly shuts off completely. Now I don't know whether it's even worth it to buy a new charging cable or whether the problem is in the actual charging port. This is annoying.

Today I get to add to my list of hilariously awful Microsoft features. I tried using Word's LaTeX "support" and it's horrendous
