Summary

JD Vance claimed pro-Ukraine protesters harassed him and his daughter in Cincinnati, but demonstrators say they merely passed him en route to a protest.

Video shows a civil exchange where Vance defended U.S. withdrawal from Ukraine aid, contradicting Trump’s stance on Russia’s invasion.

Critics accused Vance of using his child to deflect backlash over his role in a heated Oval Office meeting with Zelensky.

Protests against his Ukraine policy continue as Russia escalates attacks, with demonstrations held in Washington, D.C., and Europe.

As a parent this really hits home. I can remember vividly the time I was harassed, 6-month-old in my arms, when I cut off desperately needed funding. I was literally causing death and misery, all because I thought a ruthless foreign dictator was kind of a cool dude. If we were both threatened and harassed for being massive turd nuggets, where does it end? /s

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 22 points 7 hours ago

Confronted. lol. He needs to actually be confronted, in a deposition.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 16 points 7 hours ago

Nut up you fucking pussy.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 67 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (1 children)

LOL, "confronted".

What fucking snowflakes these assholes are. I've seen the video. More like "asked pointed questions and I am too much of a gigantic man-baby to deal with consequences like that".

FUCK YOU and every single asshole that voted for you.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

They always need to be the victim in every interaction even if they weren’t.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 hours ago

Much better than families and their toddlers being faced with pro Russian missiles.

Cry me a river you petulant fuck.

[–] bfg9k@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

I'm confronted by this fucker's stupid fucking face every goddamn day

Deal with it you fucking child

[–] WatDabney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 151 points 12 hours ago

Oh boohoo - somebody maybe said mean things to him while he was using his daughter as a human shield (or maybe they didn't and he's lying).

And meanwhile, parents in Ukraine are digging their children's corpses out from under rubble.

[–] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 169 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Good. This administration should continue to be confronted and challenged on their stupidity. They are, and never should be, free from receiving criticism for their stances, and using the child to deflect from the real questions being asked is a cop out and completely on brand.

I bet the three year old has a more objective view on Ukraine anyway. The press should be interviewing them instead of JD.

[–] astronaut_sloth@mander.xyz 41 points 11 hours ago

I agree. Make them uncomfortable. Make them see how reviled they are.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 59 points 10 hours ago

Must be nice not having a foreign invader taking your kids away from you huh?

Must be nice not having your kids separated from you and put into cages huh?

You don't get to be a morally bankrupt Putin puppet and then appeal to actual morals.

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I really don't need to know how old his couch cushion is tbh...

[–] sloppychops@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago

Boys' night out at the local strip club, he turns up at Ikea wondering where everyone is.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 29 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Vance is a verified unabashed fucking liar.

Where’s the proof this happened? Where was his secret service detail?

Remember his fabricated story about Haitians in Ohio? I call Bullshit 💩

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

Yeah he wasn’t in any danger, otherwise this would be bigger news.

[–] piskertariot@lemmy.world 77 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Children do not make you immune from criticism. If you're afraid of your child hearing that you're a collossal piece of shit, leave it at home or get out of politics.

Or stop being a huge piece of shit.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 19 points 10 hours ago

"Today while walking my 3 year old daughter"

Was that a typo? Or does "JD" "Vance" talk about walking his daughter like he would talk about his dog?

[–] notsoshaihulud@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

This is even lamer than his usual couch theatrics about feigning being "diSrEspeCtEd!!!1!!!". This comes off as Vance being this soft and weak couch potato who feels threatened even by the sight of signs. Considering how little concern he showed about Ukrainian children being "confronted" by russian missiles, he is now eligible for my prayers. He still have to work for my thoughts though.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 35 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago) (2 children)

JD: "Stay back! I have a child." Raises their child up as if they were shield

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Vice cuck learning self defense tactics from the president.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 3 points 9 hours ago

If Vancey-pants went on home and self-immolated, the kid would be better off in the long run.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 70 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

JD: "Hmmm ... Elon uses his kid as a human shield ..."

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago

The nation could benefit from some childhood trauma right about now.

[–] NimdaQA@lemmy.world 54 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (2 children)

Despite my… unpopular view on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

I’d like to say that this is nonsense. His street was closed off with massive police presence yet he deliberately took his kid to confront the protesters when he had many other options.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago

This reminds of the way Klan Mom and her pedo side-kick Gaetz acted when they were followed around and asked questions. The way they think it should work is that they get to call liberals [1] any and all names in the book. Also they get to defend the J6 terrorists that they call "political prisoners", and others should not even be able to be heard in their response to these monsters. And if the opposition IS heard, and they are shouted down, they'll cry endlessly about it and talk about their "free speech". Even when assholes like this can get on the likes of Faux "News" nearly any time with one phone call, while their opposition cannot.

[1] "Liberals", meaning, anyone that doesn't have their lips around the shaft of the mini-mushroom.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 3 points 9 hours ago

He's not going to miss an opportunity to play the victim.

[–] HeadfullofSoup@kbin.earth 38 points 11 hours ago

Never too young to learn how much your dad is a piece of human garbage that non braindead people hate

[–] kiku@feddit.org 32 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think you should get a job in public service if you don't want to deal with members of the public.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 12 points 11 hours ago

public service

Republicans have t thought of government officials like that for decades, they view the politicians they vote for as their boss.

Someone who tells them what to do/think, and they align their values to trump

Neoliberals have spent 30 years trying to get Dems to think the same way, where instead of a politician working for their voters and then being accountable to them, they want voters to work for them and never question their stances. They want us to be like Republicans and take the stances of our politicians instead.

The thing is there are very real and very noticable differences in the brains between conservatives and liberals, what works on Republican voters just won't win enough liberal voters for that strategy to work.

The only reason it worked in 2020 was people gave Biden the benefit of the doubt.

But lots of Dem voters never got over Biden saying that anyone who thought he could accomplish anything with simple House and Senate majorities were ignorant of American politics. After the reason we got the 50/50 split was the entire nation donating in the runoffs so we could get it.

So while I agree, its important to point out neither side has been nominating politicians who view themselves as public servants for a very very long time.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Sucks to suck, maybe you should think about consequences before becoming a nazi.
Oh and he even pulled out the "use my daughter as sympathy bait" card. Classic snowflake!

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

If I was this guy I would have moved my family like they were in witness protection. The chance of them being collateral damage is just too high.

Though he referred to walking his daughter like walking a dog. So he probably doesn't care much.

[–] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 hours ago

I could be wrong but I don't think that they are as unhinged as MAGA storming the capitol.

[–] RebelSquare42@lemmy.ca 16 points 11 hours ago

Wow if that’s how upset he is over a potential minor emotional trauma for his child I wonder how he would feel about her living in Ukraine under bombings?

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Imagine you and your family being confronted by a Russian conscript who shoots anything that moves.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 12 points 11 hours ago

Using his own kids as a political prop, of course.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemm.ee 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

He hasn't even gotten to the stupid prizes part yet and he's already whining. Being asked questions on the street about awful things you've said and done - seems like the most mild of experiences and a critical part of democracy.

It's not like he's facing prison or anything.

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemm.ee 1 points 8 hours ago

I hope we see that

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I hope they were armed to the teeth and you piss your bed from nightmares for the rest of your pathetic life.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

You can see the video. It seems like an extremely mild bunch of people asking him questions he was uncomfortable about.

He's just whining. I'm remembering how the qons were acting like it was 9/11 2.0 when Huckabee was....checks notes....denied a fucking cheese plate at a restaurant that didn't want to be seen endorsing these monsters.

I also remember something in the first little d term where some con was joined on the sidewalk, and people around him walked along with him, asking questions he didn't like. He acted like he was this close to be abducted by terrorists. I can't remember if that was Tucker or what, but it was some right wing douche clutching their pearls over a big fucking nothing.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 11 points 11 hours ago

Sucks to suck

[–] ours@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Who the hell is that guy in the thumbnail? That's certainly not JD "say thank you plwease" Vance.

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago
[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Yeah, get used to it maybe

[–] Aliktren@lemmy.world 3 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

No he knows just a little how ukrainian parents feel every day

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 2 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

No, he really does not, not in any way. Or if he does, he doesn't care. He's a soulless, power-mad sociopath, with no more human feeling than a cockroach has.

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Wrong. Ukranian parents have to worry about literal bombs falling on them every single day. I cannot suggest what would have to be done to JD Vance and his family for him to feel what Ukranian parents feel every day without getting a visit from the Secret Service myself.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Never before have I wished I were back in Cincinnati.
