I called my neighborhood housing assistance line last week on Thursday and I've yet to hear anything back. The lady who took my call did say it would take up to two days, but it's been almost 4 days not (not counting the weekend) and I'm wondering how long I should wait?

call again. blow their shit up. 'The squeaky wheel gets greased' or something like that.

But yes, as a general rule anything to do with the state, regardless of which one, shit tends to take forever and two days.

Thanks, I will ring them up again tomorrow too until I finally hear back.

Yeah, just stay on their asses until they actually do something.

I like to say the squeaky wheel either gets the grease, or gets greased. You either get what you want or get eliminated.

But in this context, be squeaky AF.

1000% this, we love our understaffed bureaucracies don't we folks

one of my friends works in state housing assistance and they basically have no money over there so if you don't call soon after they get their account refilled (beginning of the quarter/month) you will be ignored because they don't have anything to give you. With trump cutting federal grants they are down to like 100 assistance grants in an area of millions of people. You will have to get lucky with timing if your local program is equally underfunded

Aside from calling them regularly, try finding some emails and email them. But yes, this is typical, they get paid by the hour or on salary, not by how many people they help
