Originally, Qt (the GUI library KDE uses) was proprietary and it still (I think) is corporate and not community-run, though it is now free software and has been for a long while. The people who started the project apparently didn't care much about that, though I guess some people put in significant effort later to convince whatever corporate entity was in charge of Qt at the time (I think Trolltech) to release under dual LGPL/proprietary license. Gnome was basically started as a fully free software alternative to KDE.
Otherwise it's fine, definitely has a target audience who love that shit, and it also doesn't deserve being called KKKDE.
This is all literally true (except that the toolkit isn’t proprietary any more) but the alternative is gnome so it doesn’t really matter.

Tech companies have been making designs less readable for decades now. Eventually, you will just have a button with an icon you will understand to mean "slop" and you press it and the slop appears.
I remember running a transparent* terminal like 20 years ago. I stopped that shit real quick because it affects readability.
* technically it was fake transparency back then, it would just display the wallpaper, but darkened
The 2D, solid and vibrant color motif of the past ~15 years was objectively a good design choice for accessibility and should not be treated as a trend that can go out of style
But imagine how much money they're going to make selling new devices with this and then even more new devices with the next one that will be the revert to the old.

It looks bad. The accessibility options will allow you to turn it off, just like previous versions. If you want to get a little more snappiness out of your old model, turn off all that stuff in accessibility and be amazed.
What’s more interesting is jumping uhh eight major versions to have all operating systems use the same version number as the year they came out and having unified apis.
It makes the support window more predictable for people who don’t know about that kind of thing and most likely means there’s been enough work under the hood of macos to get it to where ios is security wise.
They also said 26/tahoe will be the last one to support intel. That means those 2018s are gonna end up with ~10 years of support. I thought they’d be quick to drop like the old 2011 15” models.
If you want to get into the mac game cheap, there’s never been a better time to get an m1. It’s guaranteed three year support window (likely more) on a ~$200 arm64 laptop and then asahi after that. The m1s support rosetta 2 so they can run x86 applications as well.
